AfterElton Briefs: Happy Birthday Britney, "A Day in the Life of Jake Shears," the Noah's Ark Theme Park, and More!
Happy Birthday to Britney Spears, who turns 29 today!
- It's starting. Just like I warned. NASA has discovered some new life form, or something. Soon, it will be upon us.
- In February photographer Tim Hailand is releasing the next two books in his One Day in The Life of... photo book series. Pre-orders are now being taken for One Day in the Life of Rufus Wainwright and One Day in the Life of Jake Shears. The series gives an inside glimpse into the private lives of celebrities, following them over the course of one day, and both Rufus and Jake provide text for their respective books. Next year Tim will shoot One Day in the Life of Gareth Thomas.

- Katie Couric is the latest celebrity to guest star on Glee. It'll no doubt have something to do with sectionals.
- Tomorrow night's episode of ABC's What Would You Do will feature a segment about parents berating their gay son in public. You can see a sneak peek below.
- Remember the Twitter campaign that centered around celebrities refraining from tweeting until $1,000,000 dollars was raised for HIV/AIDS help in Africa and India? So far, they've raised less than $200,000 dollars. Maybe they shouldn't have promised that the likes of Kim Kardashian and Ryan Seacrest would be muzzled until they reach the goal.
- Below you can see Rachel speak to former Secretary of the Army Clifford Alexander about the repeal of DADT.
- The next time I hear politicians rant about "wasteful spending" or attack funding for the arts, I want them to watch this Countdown clip about the "Genesis Theme Park," which will be partially funded by state dollars. Okay, I'm actually posting this because if features two of my favorite adorkable news guys, Sam Seder and Chris Hayes.
- Madonna's new gym in Mexico City had a red carpet opening this week, but already faces being shut down. Apparently, too many people have been injured on the treadmills trying to avert their eyes from the wide-screen TV's showing Swept Away and Who's That Girl.
- I need my eyes checked. When I saw this headline over at Towleroad, I gasped. I thought it said Judge Reinhold Refuses to Recuse Himself in Prop 8 Case. Anyway, good for Judge Reinhardt!
- Below you can see The Unabashed Queer Matt Siegel and his "It Gets Bitter" video.
And today's Briefs are brought to you by...
