AfterElton Briefs: The Queerest Indie Songs of 2010, Previewing "Merlin," Ebert Returns, DADT Repeal News, and More!

  • Above you can see the first promotional poster for the second season of AMC's The Walking Dead, which will premiere next October.
  • The Southern Poverty Law Center has responded to the whining of all the hate groups that have recently been added to their list. Basically it boils down to "if you don't want to be labeled a hate group, stop acting like a hate group."
  • Doctors in Germany claim they have cured a man who was infected with HIV with a blood stem cell transplant.
  • I spend way too much time watching Bravo shows, but one I have never been able to get into is The Millionaire Matchmaker. Maybe it's because most of the "millionaires" are always so impressed with themselves I take a perverse delight in seeing them strike out. Or maybe it's matchmaker Patti Stanger, who is quite an unpleasant person . Below you can see a preview of next Tuesday's show, in which Patti tries to make-over a gay millionaire. Remember ... money can't buy you class!

  • Out Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry has a new show in development at ABC. Hallelujah would center on a small town “which finds itself being torn apart by the forces of good and evil."
  • I have to disagree with Anderson Cooper's decision to put the ladies of The View on his "Ridiculist." They mocked John Boehner for his constant uncomfortable crying jags (Barbara Walters tactfully suggested he has an "emotional problem"), but Anderson doesn't think it's fair to make fun of a guy who shows his emotions. True, but ... c'mon.

  • The New Gay's Zack Rosen has released his annual list of the queerest indie songs of the year. I'm hip, so I know all of them. But where's the latest from Starship?
  • Radar is reporting that Lance Bass has found a new love interest. Apparently all that's known is that he's a handsome guy with the ridiculous name of Brent.
  • Great news for fans of film critic Roger Ebert. He'll soon be bringing his classic style back to TV.

  • Merlin returns for a news season on SyFy Friday, January 7th and below you can see a sneak peek.
