AfterElton Briefs: "Prometheus" Rises, Stephen Colbert's "Big Gay Round-Up," and Howard Stern Comes To Prime Time

  • Birthday Shoutouts! Geoff Stults (above) is 34, Stuart Townsend is 39, Michael Shanks is 41, and Helen Slater is 48. Helen, of course, starred in one of the most faboo films of the 80's.

  • It's official! Howard Stern will replace Piers Morgan on America's Got Talent, and guess what? The Parents Television Council is not very happy about it.
  • In ratings news, last night's airing of Barbara Walters: 10 Most Fascinating People Of 2011 was down 28% from last year. Damn, I missed it. Now I'll never how Katy Perry responded when Barbara asked her if she's ever kissed a girl and if she liked it, because Katy had never been asked that question before.
  • Good news for fans of Russell Brand. Fox has picked up an animated comedy loosely based on his life during his 20's, and f/x will air a late night unscripted show in front of a live audience.
  • ABC has canceled Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Good, maybe now they can get back to the original Extreme Makeover - unnecessary plastic surgery!
  • Last night Stephen Colbert debuted "The Big Gay Round-Up." Somehow he segues from gay penguins to ... sword fights with Elijah Wood.

  • Below you can see Kathy Griffin tell Jimmy Kimmel her plans for getting Anderson Cooper fired when they co-host CNN's New Year's Eve special.

  • Below you can see the first poster for Ridley Scott's much-discussed Prometheus, which may or may not be a prequel to Alien.

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...
