AfterElton Briefs: Tabatha Does P-Town, "The New Queer Generation," Broadway's "Spider-Man" Turns Tragic, and More!
Roger Federer picks up a hitchhiker in Zurich
- Kate Davies has a fun four-part interview with Eric Sheffer Stevens about his life after As The World Turns, and he reveals how surprised he was by the popularity of the late, lamented Dr. Reid Oliver.
- RuPaul's Drag Race Season Two winner Tyra Sanchez will "trade high heels for ski boots" when she performs at Winterpride in Whistler, B.C. on January 29th and February 5th. I don't know, I really can't picture her shushing down the slopes.
- If you can't get to NYC to see it, The Pee-Wee Herman Show on Broadway will be filmed in January and be shown on HBO sometime in 2011.
- TheNewGay has their own channel on ... that one site, and below you can see them present a special performance from The New Pornographers in acknowledgment of the "It Gets Better" project.
- We've haven't covered Brit soap Coronation Street all that much here, but that may change next year when gay character James returns to the long-running drama.
- Out has a terrific slideshow called "The New Generation," featuring short Q & A's with young GLBT people. It's fascinating to hear what they believe "the new queer generation" means.

- Kathy Griffin has revealed that CNN has vowed to immediately yank her off the air if she curses during her New Year's appearance with Anderson Cooper.
- One of the highlights of last season's Tabatha's Salon Takeover was when she visited a gay salon and caused fragile twinks to nearly collapse just by being in her presence. Next week Tabatha tries to make over a gay salon in Provincetown, and she may be in for a challenge.
- Craig Calcaterra at Hardball Talk has an interesting response to the question "What kind of reception would the first active gay baseball player receive?"
- MediaBistro interviews Dan Parent about creating the groundbreaking gay Archie character Kevin Keller
- I've poked fun at the troubled production of Broadway's Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, but it just became deadly serious. Actor Christopher Tierney was seriously injured during yesterday's preview performance when a harness cable snapped. You can see the incident below, which has prompted Actor's Equity to have the production shut down until safety measures are addressed.
- Finally, here's Wilson Cruz last night at Splash Bar in NYC. Just because.
