New Music Mix: Robyn Tour Update, New Adele, Cher and Christina Go Burlesque, Glee's Teenage Dream and More!

TOUR NEWS

Hey Everyone! So this past week has been all about one artist for me, and for any of you who have been frequenting the site, it will be no surprise who I'm talking about.

I have been having an ongoing love affair with a certain Swede ever since I first heard her amazing dance track "With Every Heartbeat" back in 2006. Since the success of her self-titled album in 2005, Robyn has been garnering International fandom and has created a comeback career many former 90's artists could only dream of (Smash Mouth, Aqua, Chumbawumba, and the list goes on and on).

This past year Robyn has released three new albums in a project entitled Body Talk with the third being released on November 22nd (I'm already loving the track "Stars 4-Ever"). Each album has been touched by some of the greatest producers of the moment including Max Martin, Diplo, Röyksopp and Kleerup.

A litany of successful tracks such as "Dancing On My Own," "Hang With Me" and "Indestructible" have since landed on every gay man's iPod and rocketeered this former 90's "Show Me Love" singer back into mainstream America resulting in a brief performance at this year's MTV Video Music Award's.

This summer I had the chance to see Robyn at the outdoor Indie-music festival Pitchfork in Chicago. Now here's where the drama starts. Her performance was short (only nine songs) and because I foolishly got my tickets at Will Call, I was stuck outside waiting in line as her show began to start. I could hear her performing "Fembot", "Be Mine" and "Konichiwa Bitches" all the while I'm stuck in this long-ass line. I've never been so frustrated in my life. Not even rush hour traffic compares to that feeling.

Once I was finally let in, the parts of her show I did see were amazing, but I knew that I needed to catch a full show. Six Robyn songs is just not enough. Thus began my search for her next tour.

Here comes my drama Part 2. When Robyn decided to set out on her own North American tour, I must have had my head stuck in the ground somewhere, because I missed out on buying Chicago tickets. The show did, to my defense, sell out completely in four hours! I searched around at all the other cities and there were still plenty of tickets, just not any in Chicago. Just my luck!

For Plan B, I decided to book a trip back to Atlanta (my hometown) to catch her at the Buckhead Theatre. To my surprise, not only was every gay man I had ever met, dated, hooked up with (or wished I had) at her concert, but the set list included every song I had ever wanted to hear her play. Now here's Part 3 of the tragedy that has become my Robyn concert experience.

I ran into my first ex with his new boyfriend. Now the feelings are definitely gone as it's been nearly four years since we broke up! But it was still a little awkward. Mainly because my current boyfriend wasn't by my side, as he was back in Chicago in class. So combine running into the first love of your life and then mix that with a boat load of booze, and you, too, my friend will likely not remember much of any concert.

Don't drink and concert, boys!

Me at Robyn in Atlanta.
