Meet Your Gay of the Week for the Week of January 14, 2011

Life is not easy for Ian Gallagher of Showtime's new dramedy Shameless. Not only does he live in the projects and have a father who is more of a burden than caretaker, he also has to live up to the memories of some guy from Manchester with the same name. Ian, however has lived up to all those challenges and his reward is the crown of Gay of the Week!

Ian certainly made a strong first impression. In addition to being a promising ROTC student, we learned he's also quick enough to escape from angry fathers without major injury, able to tell when pork rinds are actually pork, good at picking out music for his closeted, muslim boyfriend and ready to handle whatever his brother, Lip has to say about homosexuality. Only time will tell if he continues to impress us as we get to know him better.

Ian was hugely popular, earning a whopping 53% of your votes. Meanwhile, Kyle from last week's Grey's Anatomy came in second with 26% of your votes. While his story was moving, it just couldn't beat the excitement over the potential of a new gay in town. Brothers & Sisters' Saul came in third with 12% of your votes while The Good Wife's Owen came in last with 8% of the vote.

Considering the way his life is, Ian's reign should certianly be an interesting one. Will he be able to defend his title next week? Be sure to join us when we select our next Gay of the Week!
