Meet Your Gay of the Week for the Week of April 8, 2011

He's been away for a while, but this week Andrew van de Kamp was back on Desperate Housewives. At first he dealt with an absent husband and boredom with alcohol, leaving him passed out on neighbors' couches, but eventually he found a way to face the problems that was driving him to drink, and took the first steps to sobriety. That journey has made Andrew your Gay of the Week!

Andrew has come full circle since we first met him. He started as one of the reasons Bree van de Kamp was a desperate housewife, an unappreciative, rebellious son willing to go to extremes to hurt his mother. Now, he's a desperate househusband, unable to figure out how to stop his husband from getting more distant and walking away from their marriage. Lucky for him, Bree is willing to use her experience to lend a helping hand.

Andrew had a solid win, earning 33% of the total votes. United States of Tara's Marshall Gregson and his tea-and-gunfire student video came in second with 28%. Manila Luzon of RuPaul's Drag Race and her makeover abilities came in third with 23%

Despite taking the initial lead, Elton John's Saturday Night Live performance came in fourth with 15%.

We're looking forward to sampling the mocktails at Andrew's coronation party. Be sure to join us next week when we unveil four more nominees and pick out a new Gay of the Week!
