The Week in Gay TV: Bravo Puts on a Second “Fashion Show” and “The Simpsons” Visits the Treehouse of Horror at “Twilight”
Welcome to another edition of The Week in Gay TV, your weekly resource to the shows battling for your attention in the days ahead. The November sweeps are going full blast, which means we’ve got a very busy week of TV ahead that includes the return of Bravo’s The Fashion Show, the first episode of Ghost Hunters with Adam Berry and The Simpsons’ latest “Treehouse of Horror”.
Fighting a truth goddess brought out some big revelations on Supernatural last week and the Winchester brothers deal with those shockers on Friday’s new episode. Last season, I thought Supernatural’s pacing was off, not managing to communicate the kind of urgency that should have been a part of wrapping up a five-season story arc. This season hasn’t had that problem, moving the season’s story arc amid monster-of-the-week episodes. It’s nice to see Supernatural has reclaimed its mojo.
Friday also brings an early Thanksgiving on Smallville, as Clark finds that he is on the opposite side of the Vigilante Registration Act from Lois’ father. Elsewhere, the Law & Order: UK team investigates the arson of a Turkish social club, Drew struggles to accept Adam and Fiona’s relationship on a new Degrassi and Clinton and Stacy teach someone What Not to Wear.
Saturday brings the newest installment of Behind the Music Remastered on VH1 Classic and this time the rockumentary series takes a look at the career of Boy George. There’s certainly plenty of drama to be found in his life, from the way he initially shocked the world with his androgynous stage presence to the drug addiction that has plagued him over the years as well as his subsequent his solo successes.
Saturday’s Logo Documentary is one that Esther Williams fans should be eager to check out. Synchronized Swimming follows two teams as they prepare to compete in the U.S. Open championships. There is one teenage guy among the female swimmers, and undoubtedly he has to deal with the issues that come with being a guy in what is perceived as a women’s sport.
Saturday also brings Margaret Cho discussing moving into a new home that she suspects is haunted on Celebrity Ghost Stories. Graham Norton talks with Lee Mack and James Blunt on a new Graham Norton Show. Finally, I’ll be hoping for another sighting of the hot, shirtless sound guy on The Dish.
