The Week in Gay TV: Adam Lambert's "True Hollywood Story" and Johnny Weir Judges "Skating with the Stars"

Welcome to another edition of The Week in Gay TV, your guide to the shows that will be battling for space on your DVR in the week ahead. Things are slowing down with the approach of Thanksgiving here in the U.S, but there are still plenty of exciting shows coming up including Adam Lambert as the focus of the E! True Hollywood Story, the debut of Skating with the Stars and a Futurama Holiday Spectacular.

Friday sees Smallville continue to wrap up its ten seasons with another nostalgic look backward, this time with Aquaman making a return. When Oliver signs up for the Vigilante Registration Act, he ends up a test subject in a secret facility. That causes Aquaman and his new wife, Mera, to team up with Clark to break Oliver free.

That’s not all Smallville has to offer this week as the facility is run by a Colonel played by Michael Hogan — and unlike Battlestar Galactica, he gets to use both eyes in his performance.

Friday also brings Supernatural’s latest detour into comedy as Sam and Dean investigate a series of disappearances, with Dean eventually finding himself harassed by fairies. Yes, fairies. This week’s Supernatural will have another good-looking but testy guy grumbling about fairies. As long as there are no scenes in a kitchen, hopefully we won’t have to worry about getting mixed up and thinking Top Chef: Just Desserts is still airing.

In addition to fairies, the Winchesters will be dealing with elves, gnomes and even a leprechaun. Mix in another appearance of the hilariously stoic Castiel and Friday’s Supernatural sounds like one not to miss.

Meanwhile, Teen Nick has the fall finale of Degrassi with Adam, Claire and Eli planning their alternative dance. I don’t feel optimistic we’ll get to see Riley or Zane but in the meantime, I’m enjoying seeing how things develop for Adam. Finally, BBC America has a new Law & Order: UK investigates a drug bust that went wrong.

Saturday’s TV is a bit quiet but there’s a new Graham Norton Show. Graham’s guests include Daniel Radcliffe, who will be talking about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One as the film series nears its conclusion. Plus, in case you haven’t heard, he sings his way through the periodic table. Graham is also joined by Colin Farrell and musical guest Rihanna, who looks stunning in a red dress and wig.

Meanwhile, with Burlesque opening in theatres next week, Logo has a Christina Aguilera double-feature with her episodes of Storytellers and Behind the Music to get you ready to see Aguilera’s movie acting debut.

Saturday also brings Anne Hathaway as host of Saturday Night Live. Let’s see if SNL manages to make better use of Hathaway’s comic talents than it has with… every other host this season. Finally, Danielle Fishel looks at the week in pop culture on a new episode of The Dish.
