Liveblogging "As The World Turns" : Heartless, Part One

Actually, It describes TPTB at ATWT. Join us as the emotional ride begins.

Um ... I wasn't paying close attention, but according to the previews I think Reid wants to join the Bay City Rollers or something."S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y -NIGHT!"

2:05PM EST: Chris is dead! Oh wait, he's just at death's door. Walk through!

Bob and John work on him, as Luke and Reid watch from outside. Reid says "i'm going in there!" ... because Chris needs a brain surgeon? Luke tries to comfort Kim until Barbara shows up and takes over, as Henry asks Luke where Katie is. Luke says "I don't know."

We immediately cut to Katie still pouring her guts out to Dead Brad's grave when Henry suddenly appears behind her. Isn't it a little morbid to have the town cemetery right next to the hospital? "Mr. Smith, you're likely to be transferred today." "Where?" "Look out the window"

2:15PM EST: Alison and Casey are pawing each other in the cafe when Luke shuffles in like a gay zombie. They ask him what's wrong and he says "it's Chris."

Bubbles and Henry discuss Dead Brad and Almost Dead Chris. Henry says "What do you think about a certain someone putting on a nurse's uniform to cheer Chris up?" Katie says "That's a great idea!" and Henry responds "Good, I'll go change!"

Bob, John, and Reid tell Chris (each in their own particular way) to stop being an idiot. Chris insists that he doesn't want any special treatment, no jumping ahead of the line. Reid calls him a moron, but Chris is adamant that he doesn't want "any machines."

2:25PM EST: Chris tells Kim he doesn't want to be remembered as weak and hooked up to heart bleep thingies. Everyone takes turns telling him he's an asshat, and finally Katie pipes up "How dare you sacrifice yourself for me! You have so little faith in me you don't think I can handle you being sick?" Bubbles is bursting! I love it. And I'll also miss Terri Colombino when the show is over, especially since she publicly called out TPTB on the gay/straight double standard on the show. You rock, Terri!

Luke tells Casey and Alison about Chris, and they walk off to see Chris hand-in-hand. Luke looks appropriately about to puke.

2:35PM EST: They found a heart for Chris, who's finally decided to stop being a jerkass. Calison announce their engagement, and Luke smiles and says "it looks like things are going to work out." Reid says "it ain't over til the fat nurse over in pediatric sings." Oh Reid.

Uh-Oh! John is on the phone, and it sounds like trouble. What could it be? Luke and Reid follow him into the hospital room and watch as heannounces that the heart they wanted has been confisctaed by one of the surgeons over at Bay City General. Well, I guess that's that.

2:40PM EST: Chris Bob blah, blah, I love you son, yada yadda i love you dad. Please call Reid in.

2:50PM EST: Chris tells Reid to please take care of Katie. Reid leaves and sees Chris' happy family standing around (all couples) and decides he needs to do go and get that damn heart. Luke bemusedly says "there are limits to even what you can do." Reid explains that he's grown to ... admire ... the Hughes family, and is going to do everything he can to help them.

Luke follows Reid out to the car and tells him to be careful and to not punch anyone's lights out. Reid turns and says 'I Love you. There, I said it." They kiss, and Luke starts beaming.

2:55PM EST: It turns out that Chris can't have that other surgery, and he needs a new heart now. Luckily, Reid is on his way to Bay City. We see him in his car as he tries to race past a railroad crossing. Meanwhile, a thousand miles away there's footage of a speeding train. Reid struggles to get out of the car as they splice in footage of the train (which I think is in Paraguay). The show ends with a freeze frame of Reid's panicked eyes.

Preview Time: Let's just have a pleasant weekend, and forget what the preview shows.
