Morning Meme: Chris Egan Joins "Beauty and the Beast," Zac Efron's Underwear, and Brett Gleason's "Destruction"

Chris Egan has been cast in ABC's fantasy version of Beauty and the Beast. Obviously too pretty to play the beast without blowing the SFX budget, Egan will play Gorrick, Chris Eganthe princess's fiancé and most trusted of her father's soldiers.

The New York Times says that Google is not only working on a connected heads-up display, but they're going to be ready to ship by the end of the year at a $250-$600 price point. I'll be honest with you Marge, I don't care if they're uglier than the BCGs the Air Force gave me, I'll hock a kidney to get a pair if they work.

For the record, disgraced former Speaker Gingrich, you can put a gun rack in a Chevy Volt.

I haven't seen Red, so I'm not sure the tone of the movie. But when the headline is that Red 2 is going to use Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot, I'm totally in for the sequel.

For the record, it would cost $852,000,000,000,000,000 to build the Death Star in 2012 dollars. But as the story says, just borrow it and default – what's the bank going to do, you've got a freaking Death Star.

In a limited victory for the homeless in New York City, and that includes GLBT homeless youth as well, a judge has ruled that the Bloomberg administration violated procedures in changing shelter rules Jeremy Lingvall and David Geffenin order to save money. Bloomberg was being sued by the city council over the move. The mayor plans to appeal.

David Geffen, 68, has split from his partner of six years, 27-year-old Jeremy Lingvall. The billionaire media mogul famously took his beau to a state dinner in 2009. The relationship is said to have just run its course.

Queerty talked with Logo General Manager Lisa Sherman about the network's development slate, which is heavy on the reality shows and not as specifically gay-centric as Queerty expected. Sherman says "From our research, gay people are living far more integrated lives that before. Being gay is an important part of their lives but it’s not what they lead with. So if we’re going to keep to that idea of displaying their lives, we need to reflect that new reality."

The Virginia senate has sent a bill to the governor that explicitly allows adoption agencies to discriminate against any couple that violates their beliefs or morals, including gay parents. It's a horrible bill from a horrible legislature that also plans on passing a bill requiring an invasive transvaginal ultrasound before an abortion. The governor is expected to sign both bills.

The Tyler Clementi cyberbullying trial of Dahrun Ravi began yesterday. It will be broadcast live, globally.Tyler Clementi

Speaking of bullying, the Weinstein Company plans to fight the MPAA on the R-rating for Bully, which would restrict the movie to adults and teens accompanied by adults. The Weinsteins wanted to be able to screen the film in middle and high schools around the country where it could do some good.

Staples appears to be confused that it was called out as a petition location for the fight to repeal marriage equality in Washington state. The company has tweeted that it has no political position, and JoeMyGod thinks a regional manager exceeded his authority. It doesn't hurt to remember that Staples is a success story touted by Mitt Romney from his Bain Capital days, and he tithed a lot of stock to the Mormon church.

I can't stand Bob's Burgers, so I'm glad EW has a stream of Cyndi Lauper's customized "The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough” from this week's episode to listen to.

The PropSuper Best Friends Forever 8 opponents have decided to seek an en banc review of the case in the 9th Circuit rather than proceeding directly to the Supreme Court.  Basically, they seem to be trying to roll the dice that Romer v. Evans wasn't a valid precedent for Prop 8 to be ruled on. Having lived in California, I am of the opinion that the entire state is fundamentally broken (and broke) thanks to their "people's will" system.
