Morning Meme: "The Normal Heart" Comes To Broadway, Jane Lynch Visits the Tri-Sate Area, and Stephen Colbert Talks Rick Santorum

BroadwayWorld.com is reporting that before the end of the
season, Larry Kramer’s The
Normal Heart will mount its first on-Broadway run. The
cast will be
headlined by Joe Mantello as Ned
Weeks, Ellen Barkin as Dr. Emma
Brokkner, and Cheyenne Jackson as Felix
Turner.
Out New Zealand Olympian Blake Skjellerup has written a moving piece about the earthquake in his home country, and the spirit of his fellow Kiwis to rebuild. I’ve also been told that all of Skjellerup’s family is accounted for. Also: A reported 30 million tons of ice has calved from a New Zealand glacier, causing 15 foot waves.
Is there drama on the horizon for Kevin and Scotty on Brothers & Sisters? It sounds like they get the bulk of the extra four episodes that ABC ordered to explore their story, and it doesn’t look pretty.
Is Adult Swim responsible for all the edgy comedy on cable? Possibly. And who knew that it was turning ten years old?
MTV talked to Starz, and the network says that Perry Moore’s gay teenage story Hero
is still in development at the network, and
the author’s
untimely death doesn’t change that.
Graeme Obree, a.k.a. the Flying Scotsman, came out last month, and this month announced a new book he intends to write with his ex-wife.
The second season of Johnny Weir’s series Johnny Be Good is set to air on Logo and just picked up Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos as producers.
Amazon Prime membership now gets you a Netflix-like streaming video service on most connected devices. I’ve been a Prime member for years, but haven’t had time to try it out yet.
In theoretically unrelated news, Blockbuster has put itself up for auction.
Rahm Emmanuel easily won the mayoral election in Chicago.
The
Smithsonian Museum is going to open an exhibit next year on video games. One has to wonder--
if they pick some violent games for the exhibit, will the morality police in
Congress try to defund the museum again?
There is an interesting (but unlikely) meme going around the internet that The King’s Speech shared a set with a gay adult movie site. Seriously, does that even look the same to anyone?
The first clips from the Phineas & Ferb episode starring Jane Lynch as Jeremy’s mother are out. Mrs. Johnson isn’t exactly a pushover, but after seeing Lynch play an even more insane version of Sue Sylvester on iCarly, I’m glad to see that she’s much more human as a cartoon.
Oscar hosts and nominees in the top categories will get gold Motorola Xoom tablets in custom sleeves
designed to look like Oscar envelopes.
Rush Limbaugh, you are an asshat. And in this particular case, I’m going to go ahead and call you an obese, disgusting asshat.
I can’t say I’ve listened to this episode of The Morning After … Podcast yet, but it’s probably safe to say putting Bryan Safi and gay adult star Lex Sabre together to talk about films and sex is NSFW.
