Morning Meme: "Supernatural" Gets Meta, Marriage Movement Around the Country, and Nate Berkus Is "Next"

Of course the big news items yesterday were the announcements
related to marriage equality. As always, I prefer my legal analysis from the Law
Dork, Chris Geidner. Basically, the
DOMA announcement was nice, but not at all what
the headlines said. As for the filing on Prop 8 asking the stay be lifted, that’s more interesting. Particularly if you
live in California.
Does anyone else think that allowing Prince Harry to throw the stag party for Prince William is risky? At least taking a yacht out into international waters should minimize witnesses. But I admit to spitting Coke Zero on my keyboard when I read that the party would involve a “variety of extreme watersports.”
The DC Agenda has a nice roundup of various gay Oscar winners, from costume designers like Albert Wolsky to Dustin Lance Black.
Speaker John Boehner issued a brief statement regarding DOMA yesterday:“While Americans want Washington to focus on creating jobs and cutting spending, the President will have to explain why he thinks now is the appropriate time to stir up a controversial issue that sharply divides the nation.” But wouldn’t dropping the lawsuits save the government money? And wouldn't the increased industry for gay weddings create a lot of new jobs?
Many people have been anxious for George Clooney to enter politics. But according to Clooney, “I didn't live my life in the right way for politics, you know. I f---ed too many chicks and did too many drugs, and that's the truth."
An Assistant Attorney General in Indiana has been let go for suggesting via Twitter that riot police
use live ammunition to disperse union
protesters in Wisconsin.
Some of Larry Ellison’s Oracle billions will go to finance Star Blazers, an American, live action version of the Japanese anime series.
I truly don’t know what to make of this Lady Gaga Viva Glam video.
The media have decided to christen the term “flexisexual” for girls who like boys sexually but like to kiss girls. So basically, they’re hoping to cause an Internet debate to drive up ad rates.
Comedy Central really thinks that the 15th Annual Michigan Gay and Lesbian Comedy Festival
is going to be the place to be on march 5th. Tickets are still
available to hear comedy from Carlease
Burke, Sandra Valls, Owen Alabado, and Poppy Champlin.
In case you had any doubt, the two original songs that Glee will feature at Regionals will have Rachel in a solo, then have a Rachel/Finn duet.
The most gay friendly and consistently funny of Seth MacFarlane’s shows, American Dad, has been renewed through 2013.
Alan Goldsher, the man who brought us the zombie Beatles book Paul Is Dead, is back with My Favorite Fangs. This is basically The Sound of Music, but with zombies.
The red band trailer for the Cameron Diaz/Justin Timberlake comedy Bad Teacher is totally NSFW, and somewhat shocking in a lot of ways. It might even be funny, but I don’t want to commit to that.
A revolutionary new treatment for homophobia involves
lowering the patient into a tank filled with gays.
Chris Columbus is done discovering America, so he’s going to remake the Korean film Hello Ghost for American audiences.
Gay marriage passed a preliminary Senate vote in Maryland. But the bill that would nullify GLBT protections in local municipalities in Montana passed a preliminary vote in the house, along party lines. But in Hawaii, Gov. Abercrombie signed the civil unions bill.
AfterElton.com cannot officially endorse the Brand X Oscar Drinking Game for fear of alcohol poisoning. But you can tweet along with us on the #GayOscars hashtag, chosen specifically to infuriate people who have no sense of humor.
