Morning Meme: GLAAD Honors Russell Simmons, Andy Cohen Bullies Children, and Craig Ferguson Is a Gay Man (Without the Gay Sex)

GLAAD is announcing this morning that Russell Simmons will be honored alongside Ricky Martin at the NYC GLAAD Media Awards on March
19th.
Meanwhile on April 10th in Los Angeles, Kristin Chenoweth will be honored as well as new NBC programming head Robert Greenblatt for his work on
GLBT-inclusive programming at Showtime.
Out mega-producer Greg Berlanti has signed a rich five year deal at Warner Bros. that will allow him to create television and movies at the same time, and shop the products to multiple networks.
We can show you some spoilers for Kurt and regionals, but you have to behave in your comment subject lines.
Nicholas Hoult has signed on to a zombie movie called Warm Bodies once he
finishes with out director Bryan
Singer’s
Jack
the Giant Killer. Our little Tony has really hit the big time, hasn’t
he?
Rutgers University plans to offer gender neutral housing in the wake of Tyler Clementi’s suicide. The choice would be the student’s, and the parent would not hold veto power with the school.
Louis Farrakhan in a four hour address said that Gadhafi has always been a friend, adding “He also criticized the sexually charged performances of popstar Rihanna, saying they were “filthy” and that people who enjoyed such antics were “swine,” a description he also applied to homosexuals and lesbians.” Oink-oink.
Frank Rich has left the New York Times for New York Magazine. No doubt the GLBT community will keep a passionate straight ally in Rich, but I fear his stage just shrank dramatically.
Embattled Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi says that Italy will never give marriage and adoption rights to gays and lesbians because “there is only one family.” Evidently that family doesn’t pay its taxes or check the age of hookers it sleeps with.
Rev. Grant Storms,
who repeatedly protested Southern Decadence and the evils of homosexuality
before getting arrested for playing with his pulpit in a public park has called
himself a “hypocrite,” which for the breed is fairly self aware.
Bristol Palin will be releasing her memoirs over the summer, because the window on her fame might snap closed at any moment.
You can listen to the next soundtrack from Glee in its entirety over at AOL, including one of the most disturbing renditions of “Kiss” ever heard outside a karaoke bar.
Speaking of Glee, Mike O’Malley again assures us that playing Burt Hummel is the best role of his career, and he wouldn’t even consider his new show Family Album if it meant he couldn’t show up on Glee whenever Kurt needs a father.
Once Rescue Me’s Steven Pasquale wraps up Tony Kushner’s play The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures he’ll head to USA Network to play the lead in the pilot Over/Under about a day trader with a massive gambling problem.<
In a surprise turn (to me) Comedy Central did a “Speed Dating” interview with comic Mike Vecchione that had some interesting phrasing: “How do you like your coffee/women/men?” and “Do you like men/women with pets?” She may have just conducted the first interview that didn’t presume heterosexuality.
I need to crowd source some information about Locke
& Key that was brought up in this interview. They talk a lot
about “The Gender Key” which evidently changes the gender of a character
completely, at the DNA level, via magic. So the character goes female to male.
Does the character’s sexual orientation change, or does she go from a female
interested in males to a male still interested in males?
It turns out that Sir Elton John and David Furnish did get an invitation to the royal wedding. Now if they can only find a sitter.
