Weekend Meme: Jesse Tyler and Justin Celebrate Easter, Kevin Smith Conducts a Same-Sex Marriage, and GLAAD Boycotts Trump

Happy Easter everyone! Time to hunt eggs, spend time with family and friends, eat candy, and wear pastels. Or, if you’re me, you’ll be at the day job.

Lady Gaga and Elton John

I don’t know if I’ve ever been struck so sharply as I was by this piece over at Bilerico.com, “Lady Gaga Is Not An Ally To Our Community.” Before you get up in arms, go read it. She’s not an ally, because she’s a member, and we need to remember to acknowledge that.

Jake Gyllenhaal has shaved his head for a new cop movie. He pulls the look off, and not everyone can. I know I can’t and for me the best part of boot camp was that everyone looks as ridiculous as you do.

Twitter has signed a new lease that keeps the headquarters in San Francisco after the city council passed a break in the payroll tax. From the size of the building they chose, I’m guessing on a major expansion. I wonder if I can threaten the city with moving if they don’t’ give me a property tax break?

Lil B seems to think he’s doing something "Big and Important" by naming his new album I’m Gay, even though he’s straight. His concept is that words don’t mean anything, and so labels don’t matter. Spoken like a man who’s never heard “Faggot!” shouted at him by a group of guys on a deserted street.

Robert PattinsonSenator John Kyl, who famously stood on the floor of the United States Senate and claimed that 90% of Planned Parenthood’s activity was providing abortions (it’s 3%), only to later state that it “wasn’t meant to be a factual statement” has had the less-than-factual statement expunged from the record, effectively rewriting history.

We’re looking at a big holiday weekend at the box office, with Rio taking first, Madea’s Big Happy Family coming in second at $26 million, and Water For Elephants with Robert Pattinson hitting a better-than-expected $19 million.

Alfred Freedman, whose leadership largely led to the reclassification of homosexuality as no longer being a mental disorder, has passed away at the age of 94.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent is planning an episode obviously based on Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark, but in their show Icarus, the star isn’t injured, he dies. And the rock star composer/producer, Arno, is secretly bisexual.

Adam Lambert has crossed the 1 million Twitter follower threshold. I’m a little surprised that he’s just now managed it.

In the brutal beating of a transgender woman in a McDonald’s, the assailants have been identified and arrested. Meanwhile, the cameraman, an employee of McDonald’s, who filmed the incident has been fired, and other employees who watched and cheered are being investigated.Antoine Dodson

GLAAD has made a helpful list of things that Donald Trump owns so you can be sure not to patronize any of them and inadvertently support his anti-equality message.

Antoine Dodson, viral video sensation, has been arrested for possession of pot. Hide your stash!

President Obama thinks that Bradley Manning’s treatment is perfectly fine, saying “He broke the law.” So that whole due process and trial thing, we’re not doing that anymore?

Lesbians RockI’m trying to decide where I stand on this story. A boy got into trouble at school after he called a girl a “lesbian” in response to her calling him “gay.” It’s unclear if she got into trouble at all for her part, but the school classified the infraction as using a "bad word” as opposed to harassment or bullying. In response his mom protested by painting “Lesbians Rock!” on her car windows so when she picks him up at school she can prove that “lesbian” isn’t a bad word. I’m still unsure if this is good or bad.
