Morning Meme: Fox's Fall Schedule, "House" Does It Gets Better, and Is Kermit the Frog a Homophobe?

We had already reported it, but now it’s official that Neil Patrick Harris is back to host the Tony Awards.

Lots of action over at Fox. New Girl with Zooey Deschanel is picked up to series, as is Alcatraz from JJ Abrams and Bones spinoff TheThe Finder Finder. They also canceled Human Target, Chicago Code, and Breaking In, which I was enjoying. And now Lie To Me is gone. I haven’t read the sides for the new Fox shows yet, but nothing gay pops out at me.

There’s also unofficial news that NBC has renewed Harry’s Law (which had the transgender storyline this year), canceled Law & Order: LA, and picked up Wonder Woman to series.

Meanwhile, odds are running 50/50 on Happy Endings getting another season, which makes me sad.

Lady Gaga will make her new album available early in a Farmville spinoff called GagaVille that you can buy for $25. I really wish I was joking.

There’s a high probability that Uganda’s “Kill the Gays” bill will pass today. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has condemned the move, and Rep. Barney Frank is demanding that the United States and the World Bank cut off all aid if it passes.

“Power Bottoming,” The Most Disturbing New Trend in American Homosexuality

Lady Gaga at GoogleMicrosoft buys Skype for $8.5 billion, apparently just to keep Facebook and Google from having it.

Meanwhile, Google pretty much declared war on the record labels by launching a cloud-based music service, and saying it could be even better if the record labels would get out of the way. Now rumors are leaking out that Lady Gaga may have filmed a commercial for the service.

I know snicks mentioned the Entertainment Weekly story about why American Idol has had no openly gay contestants, while The Voice launched with four. But the Fox response really ticked me off: “American Idol is about finding the next singing superstar. While sexual orientation is irrelevant to the competition, the decision to reveal sexual orientation has always been a choice made entirely by each individual contestant.” I call shenanigans! Because I knew who’s married, if they have kids and what their living room looks like for the straight contestants, and I have no background on the gay contestants? Shenanigans!

Anti-gay New York State Senator Ruben Diaz is launching a boycott against a Spanish language paper forRuben Diaz coming out in favor of marriage equality.

Last night, in a vote that’s been going on for months, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) officially struck down a rule banning ordination of gays and lesbians. The Presbytery of the Twin Cities in Minneapolis cast the 87th vote, tipping the balance in the 173-Presbytery organization.

Warren Buffett will appear on The Office, applying for whatever job Steve Carrell used to have on the show. I can’t watch the American version. I’m guessing he doesn’t get the job.

Lance BassLance Bass visited Tuscaloosa, near his hometown, and helped pass out tornado relief supplies with his family.

A 12-year-old boy in the UK wore a skirt to school. He was protesting a new dress code that didn’t allow boys to wear shorts, but allowed girls (and failed to forbid boys) to wear skirts. The fact that he chose to do it, his parents supported him, and his classmates didn’t react poorly speaks louder than it first appears.

The Washington Post is reporting that the Navy guidance allowing on-base same-sex weddings is being revoked. More details from Chris Johnson at the Washington Blade.

Disney is looking for more diversity in their tween stars. Just not gay diversity.

Joe.My.God asks if the music press is going to be so enamored with Tyler the Creator of Odd Future that they intend to overlook his regular horrid, violent, homophobic tweets. I’ve been complaining about Tyler since before Coachella, but I fear Joe is right. This twit doesn’t deserve success.
