Morning Meme: Zach Galifianakis Insults Jesse Tyler, New England Patriot Brett Lockett For NOH8, and Show Us Your Doggleganger

The sexy Josh Lucas
is now confirmed for the network television adaptation of The
Firm in the role that Tom Cruise
originated on the big screen.
I’m hoping for more nudity than the movie had.
Tennessee continues to pass laws that make me go WTF? Today it’s a law banning posting pictures that cause emotional distress. It doesn’t even have to be of you – I could post a bad picture of Darren Criss and one of our diehard Gleeks could claim distress, and if I lived in Tennessee I could go to jail and face thousands in fines. Obviously, this law has Constitutional issues.
Leonard Stern, the writer behind many great series like The Honeymooners and a personal favorite of mine, Get Smart, has passed away at age 87. What was surprising to me was that he also invented on of the great joys of my childhood, Mad Libs.
We also lost Roy Skelton at age 79. The name may not be familiar, but to many nerds, if I type “Exterminate!” you will read it in his voice, the voice of The Doctor’s greatest enemy, the Daleks.
Chris Colfer’s
cryptic tweet about an upcoming announcement has been revealed as a two book deal. The first will be called The
Land of Stories and blends the modern world with the world of fairy
tales. Colfer says he’s had the idea since he was 10-years-old. The second book
isn’t announced yet. Expect The Land of Stories summer 2012. Is there anything
this kid can’t do?
The White House, when asked about deportation of binational same-sex couples by Chris Geidner, sidesteps and says they’d like to see immigration reform. The last five presidents wanted immigration reform too. It’s not going to happen.
Rep. Anthony Weiner’s wife is pregnant. I guess this is where Vienna Sausages come from?
Zach Galifianakis is making waves in a new Rolling Stone interview, as he basically talks about going around Hollywood being an asshat to everyone. At the White House Correspondents Dinner after party, “he wandered down to the pool and bumped into Jane Lynch and her wife and Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his boyfriend. "Nice to meet you!" he said to the group. "I didn't realize it was Gay Night by the swimming pool." At the time, he saw nothing wrong with the exchange. "I walked away like, 'Another good one!'" he says. "But my girlfriend said, 'I gotta tell you, Zach – that did not go over well. You have to watch people's reactions!'"
The sun experienced a huge coronal eruption this week, which should reach us today. They don’t expect much damage,
though some satellites may have some issues. If you live in upper latitudes,
you might get some really cool auroras.
In one of the weirder transitions, even for Hollywood, Shane Acker, the guy behind the freaky animated puppet movie 9 is going to take Thomas the Tank Engine to the big screen.
But in a job that makes perfect sense, out disaster movie director Roland Emmerich is set to direct the big screen adaptation of the video game Asteroids. It actually sounds like a neat premise – humanity was mostly destroyed by aliens and now remnants live in an asteroid belt and fight for survival. Normally Emmerich destroys the world in his films, but I guess he’s hitting fast forward.
Michelle Obama is set to guest star in an episode of iCarly as part of her military families program Joining Forces. Carly’s dad is on a submarine at sea (and always has been for the series) and her friends set up a video chat for her. Enter the First Lady.
Warner Bros is releasing three Looney Tunes shorts in 3D at theaters,
two of which are updates of old cartoons and will be voiced by the legendary
Mel Blanc.
Congratulations to Capitol Pride’s Heroes, including my friend Bil Browning. They even got him to wear a suit for the occasion, so you know this is a big deal.
And because everyone needs a smile, please head over to boyculture for a pair of videos of the 6th Go Go, James Duke Mason. The young, handsome aspiring actor and founder of the Trailblazer Campaign took the stage with his mother, Belinda Carlisle and her band for a song, singing and dancing with some of his mom’s classic moves. By the end of the second video he was really relaxed and having a great time.
