Weekend Meme: Comic-Con Overload, Megan Mullally Joins "Happy Endings" and We Are the "Knights of Badassdom"

In news about shows I don't watch but people tell me I should, Michael Kenneth Williams is the new professor on Community thiMichael Kenneth Williamss fall. You may remember him best as Omar on The Wire.

In discussing how Kevin Keller came to Riverdale, creator Dan Parent says while it happened organically, the impact has been huge in unexpected ways. "I think we sometimes overlook the parents of gay kids, and how they worry about their kids in society. And when there’s a positive gay role model in print or film, it can be meaningful to a family dealing with gay issues. As far as negative experiences, there are always the haters out there, but they’re not really worth the ink on this page, so who cares about them?"

NASA has found a black hole 12 billion light years away that's devouring a flood of apparently free-floating water weighing in at 140 trillion times the volume of all our oceans. Try and wrap your brain around that. Isn't knowing this worth a few dollars? I had a day job co-worker say to me "What did we ever get out of the space program anyway?"

Captain AmericaCaptain America: First Avenger looks to be the biggest super hero of the summer, on track for a $60 million opening, dropping Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (which I finally saw and loved) to second place with a mere $50 million. Friends With Benefits is headed to a $20 million opening.

I want to acknowledge the tragedy in Oslo, with buildings blown up and 85+ people shot at a youth leadership camp. Our thoughts are with the families and the nation of Norway.

Separate from that, even cynical me is stunned that multiple Fox News outlets are blaming the Norway terror attacks on Muslim fundamentalists. Laura Ingraham said "In the ‘Back of the Book’ segment tonight, two deadly terror attacks in Norway, in what appears to be the work, once again, of Muslim extremists." The suspect is a Christian fundamentalist who feared Muslims, and that has been widely reported everywhere but Fox, which you would think would be treading lightly these days.

Texas Governor Rick Perry stunned members of the Republican Party by making sense. He says that as a supporter of states' rights, he has no problem with New York legalizing gay marriage, even if he doesn't personally support it. That's a welcome change from folksWarehouse 13 like Rep. Michele Bachmann who say a federal ban on gay marriage doesn’t' conflict with their states' rights stance.

Warehouse 13 is going to get trapped inside of a video game thanks to a crossover episode with Eureka. Yes, Fargo is responsible – who else would do it? Also, the Warehouse 13 Christmas Special will be partially animated, in multiple styles.

Shockingly, Patrick Stewart had never been to Comic-Con until this year, where he was greeted as a king. But he wasn't there for Star Trek, but for his part in voicing Dorothy of Oz. As he says, "First of all, can I just point out that I'm a Broadway girl too?"

DOD officials say that now that Don't Ask, Don't Tell repeal has been certified, they'll be examining which benefits they canMegan Mullaly extend to partners of GLB soldiers and still be compliant with DOMA.

Megan Mullally announced she's doing an arc on Happy Endings. It would be incredibly amazing if they just wrote her in as Karen Walker – can you imagine Karen trying to communicate with a gay man like Max?

Universal just shelled out major money for an R-rated comedy starring Seth Rogen and … Zac Efron? The project sounds similar to Old School, but with Rogen living near a wild fraternity that is destroying the neighborhood. The fraternity is lead by Efron. Who here thinks it's past time for Zac to get naughty?

Have you been over to our Facebook page this weekend? We've got a ton of Comic-Con mRyan Gosling and Georgeaterial as it comes out, so there's no waiting for me to post it. Plus we've got Facebook exclusives, like this Torchwood: Miracle Day panel photo gallery where you can speculate about who did John Barrowman's hair and how they should be punished (Barrowman probably votes for a spanking). Don't forget to "Like" us while you're there so you don't miss a thing!

Maryland Governor O'Malley has announced his full support for marriage equality in his state, and his intent to make it an "administration priority," which sounds much like how New York did things.

I've never read Logan's Run, though I love the campy movie. In the Ryan Gosling remake, it seems that they're going back to the book and bringing in a lot more of the sexuality issues I didn't even know were there.
