Morning Meme: NPH Explains His Entire Life to Kevin Pollak, Wilson Cruz Is Hot, and Mr. Phillips Goes to Washington

Plus Emma Thompson offends the Isle of Wight, Cheyenne Jackson returns to 30 Rock, and Millionaire Matchmaker calls off her own wedding.

Last night, Kevin Pollak sat down and talked to Neil Patrick Harris for two hours, and It was a thoroughly enjoyable interview in which they were able to detour into fun stories. It should be available on iTunes by the time you read this. So many tidbits, but the one on everyone’s mind is why did he tweet about the twins if he wanted privacy.  He became aware the story was breaking (again), and his privacy plea is so the photographers don’t start following David and NPH everywhere trying to glimpse the surrogate, who isn’t a public figure. Makes sense. He understands that he is a public figure, and that certain publicity will come with kids, just not yet. Meanwhile, three photographers had staked out Kevin Pollak’s studio.

The Canadians are invading. But they’re going to help us redecorate tastefully, so it’s fine. Steven and Chris is hitting syndication in 50 markets initially covering about 40% of the U.S. It’s a lifestyle show that’s been around since 2008, and is likened to Rachael Ray with the plus of not having Rachael Ray. American audiences likely know real life couple Steven Sabados and Chris Hyndman from Designer Guys on HGTV.

Sadly, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World underperformed what I thought were pretty conservative projections for the weekend. Everyone is trying to guess why, from Michael Cera fatigue to the fact that some critics thought the film was misogynistic. I think Wallace needs to straighten some critics out.

Patti Stanger, the Millionaire Matchmaker, has called off her own wedding because she suddenly realized she wanted children and her fiancé of six years didn’t. That’s not something she’d miss for her clients, and I can hear her screaming if they changed their mind.

Frank Rich has provided a stunning 30-year context for the meaning of the Prop 8 ruling, tying it to the AIDS crisis and recently deceased socialite Judith Peabody. I’m not going to lie – I teared up at the end.

And in response to the article, Mediaite has a retrospective of how the New York Times has changed their stance on all things gay over the last 30 years, as a new generation has taken over stewardship of the paper, including a stop to look at then-closeted deputy national editor Jeffrey Schmalz collapsing in the newsroom of AIDS related complications.

Cheyenne Jackson took to Twitter to let everyone know that despite the recurring role on Glee as the Vocal Adrenaline director, he’s also returning to 30 Rock on a recurring basis as Danny. Double the Cheyenne!

As of yesterday, Macy’s began selling the clothing line based on Glee, from “Don’t Stop Believin’” t-shirts to Cheerios uniforms. No word on if they have the male Cheerios uniforms that Kurt looked so hot wearing.

Target is kind of screwed. There are gay boycotts (including an amazing picketing this weekend of a new store in Illinois), and the Human Rights Campaign wants equivalent gay donations from the company. But right wing groups are threatening a boycott if Target balances the books. This is really making the ridiculous Citizens United decision from the Supreme Court look much more complicated for companies.

Webcomic Pearls Before Swine takes on The Quest for the Perfect Bea Arthur.

These are the Top Ten Faults in Human Thought. Oddly, failing to engage in thought isn’t #1.

Victor Webster, most recently the barely-there butch gay Caleb on Melrose Place has been cast as a love interest for Beckett on ABC’s Castle. Toe-to-toe with Nathan Fillion? Can we get some mud pits for this, because I’m so there!

Michael Verdugo, who most of us know from Design Star, has won his lawsuit in Florida to keep his police certification after being fired for appearing in a gay adult film 20 years ago. He wants to remain a cop, but I think he should sue Hollywood, FL for everything they’ve got.

Tom the Dancing Bug explains why the majority shouldn't rule on minority rights.
