Morning Meme: Saying Goodbye To Jamey Rodemeyer, Taylor Lautner Mounts Up, and "Glee"'s Brittany Channels Matthew Mitcham

In news that seems to shock everyone involved, over the weekend, Smurfs 3D crossed a half billion dollars at the global box office. A sequel Smurfswas announced long ago, but this takes it to a new level of success.

Sometimes, the timing of TheOnion.com is a little tasteless.

It seems that The Glee Project's Damian McGinty is already filming for Glee, and while he's certainly Brittany's personal leprechaun, he's also in direct conflict with out Kurt and Santana. This could get ugly.

Wow. It's nice to know I'm hated in the comments on more than one site. I mean besides Fox News.

I still haven't watched the season premiere of Supernatural yet, but according to the recap I read, new god Castiel got some ironic smiting done. If I were a megachurch pastor, I might be worried.

Morgan Freeman went on Piers Morgan's show and said that he felt the Tea Party was racist, right as his inspirational family movie A Dolphin's Tale was opening, causing many in Hollywood to speculate that it would hurt the family-values box office. But the producer doesn't think it cost him a penny.

Brad PittSpeaking of the weekend box office, Brad Pitt is no match for Timon and Pumba, because Lion King 3D won the weekend with $22.1 million to Moneyball's $20.6 million. A Dolphin's Tale nearly struck out Pitt as well, banking $20.3 million.

In San Francisco, a nude protest of proposed restrictions on public nudity brought out crowds of site seers. It even inspired the SF Bay Guardian to print a page suitable for a seat guard, one of the new proposed restrictions on going bare.

Nobody is really sure what the pilot Revolution is about, but it's produced by JJ Abrams and written by Supernatural's Eric Kripke, so it probably won't suck.

Pictures have surfaced of Ann Hathaway in the "full" Catwoman costume on the set of The Dark Knight Rises. As far as I can tell, the "full" costume adds a headband that looks a lot like kitty ears. Julie Newmar will be so happy!Ann Hathaway

New Zealand is currently issuing a series of license plates that begin with the letters "GAY" and some people (who aren't homophobic!) aren't happy when they arrive in the mail. The government says that there would be a fee to change the plates to a different number, and they won't stop issuing them because "GAY" is not an offensive term.

A new study by Pew Research says that Americans have never had a lower opinion of the media, and absolutely perceive a liberal bias in news and reporting.

The incredibly popular Snickers ad that jump started Betty White's now red-hot career has been syndicated and remade for a lot of markets, but the Mexican version, which replaces Betty with pop singer Anahi, is being called homophobic, sexist, and misogynistic. Blabbeando has the details, and I do think the good nature of the humor got lost by not using a senior citizen playing football with a bunch of 20-somethings.

With very few exceptions, this horrible anti-gay screed that Stars and Stripes felt the need to publish from Father Anthony Webster is met with logic, kindness, and outrage in the comments by gay, straight, civilian Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtkaand military alike. And the few that agree with it seem to think my existence threatens their religion, when I honestly don't care at all about their religion as long as it's not affecting me.

It appears that Department of Defense official Gautam Raghavan will be designated the new White House LGBT liaison. Raghavan was instrumental in the certification of Don't Ask, Don't Tell, and most people I've talked to that interact with him says his ability to multitask is amazing.

Saturday, November 12th, at the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center's 40th Anniversary Gala they will be honoring Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka for their visibility and support of various GLBT charities and causes.

I am completely addicted to reading the blog Where Do Gaybies Come From?
