Weekend Meme: Bishop Robinson Retiring, Justin Timberlake Gets Naked, and Darren Criss talks "Glee."

The New York Times has a great piece on the efforts some communities are making to add anti-bullying and sex education curriculum into their schools and the resistance they’re encountering. In Montana, phrases as innocuous as “human beings can love people of the same gender” have inspired protests by parents saying, “Anyone who reads this document can see that it promotes acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle.” Frankly, I wish the homosexual lifestyle were more glamorous as I sit here on a Saturday evening watching cartoons and eating leftover Halloween candy.

Neil Gaiman has 1.5 million followers on Twitter, and easily the best manners to be found anywhere on the Internet.

Bishop Gene Robinson, the first openly gay Episcopal bishop, has announced he is retiring in 2013, citing the “constant strain” on himself and his family from the worldwide backlash to his election.

The writer of Zombieland has agreed to be the scribe on Cowboy Ninja Viking.  It’s based on a graphic novel, and oddly sounds interesting.

Constance McMillen is one of Glamour’s Women of the Year.

There is a fan campaign to get Brian “Fear the Beard” Wilson to host Saturday Night Live. I can get behind this, but only if he brings The Machine.

Jane Lynch is presenting Betty White with a lifetime achievement award at the Brittania Awards. They taped last week, and the event will air for the first time on the TV Guide Channel Sunday, November 7th at 8 PM. What else is gay about it? Stephen Fry hosted.

As if we should be surprised, folks like Tony Perkins have sent the new Republican regime their marching orders, and hating the gays features prominently.

And oil painting of a nearly naked Sean Connery from 1951 has been discovered in an attic. It dates from before Connery’s fame when he made ends meet as a fitness model for art students at a local college.

Oscar nominated actress Jill Clayburgh has died at the age of 66. She was most famous for playing strong female/feminist characters

I can’t run the trailer for the Mila Kunis/Justin Timberlake movie Friends With Benefits because she has a potty mouth, but it’s worth checking out, just for how few clothes Timberlake wears, including a scene with no pants and a glute showing.

U.S. News & World Report is folding their print edition and going purely digital.

Local favorite and out man Mike White is going to take over directing Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies.

The Log Cabin Republicans have taken their next step in fighting Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. They’ve appealed the Ninth Circuit stay of Judge Phillips’ order directly to the Supreme Court. Justice Kennedy hears all appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and can do just about anything with the appeal. He’s also generally the swing vote on the Supreme Court on gay issues, so this could be fun.

The drama with Cook’s Source Magazine continues. Angry Hitler made a video, but the editor still thinks this is funny because she’s gone from 100 Facebook fans who liked her to 1870 Facebook fans who hate her.

Ugly Betty’s Ana Ortiz has been tapped to star in Fox’s comedy pilot Outnumbered, based on the BBC sitcom by the same name. Do our Brits know if there’s any gay content in Outnumbered?

Tron: Uprising will be an animated television series in 2012. The voice talent is somewhat unique, with Elijah Wood, Paul Reubens, Mandy Moore, and Bruce Boxleitner signed up.

Major props to Pam Spaulding for her “Stand Up for Your Rights” spread in Interview Magazine.

A while back editor Michael Jensen interviewed AfterElton.com member Surferdude, and we also got to meet his son, LittleDude, who sometimes pops up in the comments. He’s easily one of the coolest little dudes out there. He gave a speech at his school about bullying on Friday, and I have to say LittleDude has mad skills. There’s a copy of his speech in the forums everyone should check out. I understand from SurferDude he rocked the delivery.
