Morning Meme: Remembering Freddie, "Gay Pirates: The Music Video," Michael Bublé is an Advocate for Equality, and More!

First of all, congrats to everyone who found my hidden message in yesterday's meme. If you didn't get it, here's a hint: it's an acrostic! Now let's have a little fun with today's meme. Above you can see 10 of my favorite 80's singers. How many can you name?

I hope all of of our U.S. readers had a great Thanksgiving. A good portion of mine was spent arguing with my mother, who insisted and would not back down from her assertion that Bette Midler was once married to ... Ernest Borgnine. Even a trip to Wikipedia and IMDB would not dissuade her, as those sites only proved there was a "cover-up" going on.

Anyway, it was a busy Thanksgiving at the cinema, and the estimates for the holiday weekend are in. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is tops, raking in another $90 million, while Tangled is over-performing expectations (most likely due to positive word of mouth and great reviews), grossing an estimated $69 million.

The box office isn't so good for Burlesque, which is predicted to take in just shy of $18 million, and if that number holds up it's bad news for Brent Hartinger.

Kanye West conducted an interview ... okay, right there you know this can't end well. He interviewed Rihanna, and the questions apparently left her baffled. At one point he asked "How does it feel to know that you can turn straight women gay?" to which she replied "Is that a real question?"

Express UK interviews Bruno Tonioli .about his early days when he frolicked on the beach in Elton John's "I'm Still Standing," to his stardom as a judge on Dancing With The Stars and Strictly Come Dancing.

Hit me with those laser beams! Britain's Performing Right Society conducted a poll of the most controversial songs of all time, and Frankie Goes To Hollywood's "Relax" came in at #3.

I tried to warn the world that this would happen, but no one believed me. And now it's happened. The CDC has issued a formal warning - zombie turkeys are on the loose! "Turkeys across America are rising from the dead and feasting on the flesh of their golden brown, perfectly roasted brethren.”

Matthew's Place has a great interview with Michael Bublé, who discusses learning about equality from a very young age. " My uncle Mike has been with my uncle Frank, they’ve been a couple for 35 years. So when I grew up my mom and dad, in no uncertain terms, said you know Michael, a man can be in love with a man and a woman can be in love with a woman, and there’s no difference between people that are gay or straight They’re born that way. It’s not something that can be learned or unlearned, or it’s not a phase or anything like that. This is something that you are born with. And so I grew up, never seeing a difference between gay and straight people."

Wednesday marked the 19th anniversary of the death of Freddie Mercury, arguably the greatest frontman (and showman) in rock history. As this article points out, Freddie is still influencing artists today, from Lady Gaga (who may or may not have been named after the Queen classic "Radio Gaga") to his heir apparent Adam Lambert. Adam has a long way to go, though. For starters, he needs to start wearing full length body stockings.
