Morning Meme: "Glee" Preview Overload, TV Land Orders Pilot With Gay Twist, and Lady Gaga Has a Message

It appears that Darren Criss is going to join the Glee summer tour, making it that much more official that he’s a regular on the show.

CBS renewed The Young and the Restless for three years, and the soap opera set in the fashion world without any homosexuals, The Bold and the Beautiful, for two years.

Kevin Williamson is going to write a “companion series” for the Vampire Diaries. It’s about a group of paranormal investigators. How this matches up with what is essentially a soap opera (that I love!) of pretty people pining for each other who happen to have a few vampires mixed in, I’m not sure. Kevin, no moonlighting on other shows until you cough up that gay character on Vampire Diaries you promised us! You owe me a smoking hot immortal homo!

A lot of reports hit the airwaves about Comcast violating Net Neutrality for Netflix yesterday, just as the final decisions are being made about Comcast buying NBC. And far be it from me to defend a cable company. But it may not really be true.

TV Land has ordered pilots for two new series. Happily Divorced may be of interest here. Based on the life of Fran Drescher, a woman re-enters the dating pool after divorcing her husband of 20+ years, who turns out to be gay. It would be cliché if it weren’t Fran’s life, and she and her gay ex husband are producing it.

After casting notices went out for “light skin tones” for hobbits for Peter Jackson’s movie, the casting director has been fired. No one from the movie or Jackson’s offices made the request for any particular skin tone.

Jared Leto has been working on “Hurricane” which is a 30 minute video for 30 Seconds To Mars. The film was just banned by an unspecified network, and Leto published the detailed listing of all the problems they had with the scenes.

Cartoon Network has renewed Adventure Time, MAD, and Regular Show for new seasons. MAD is a piece of smart televisions for adults, and I admit the kid in me loves Adventure Time on occasion. I just can’t get into Regular Show.

Buried in the Ask Matt column at TV Guide is a question about whether Chris Colfer could submit his scenes to the Emmy Awards for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama even if Glee submits itself in the Comedy category. According to Matt, there’s no rule that prevents it, it’s just not done. But doing it could be so bold as to up Colfer’s chances of winning.
