Meme: Matthew Mitcham Says Lachlan "Very Obedient," Chris Colfer's Big Screen Debut, and "RuPaul's Drag Race" Preview

Thank you for your patience today, my day job really took it out of me last night and I needed some time.

This interview with the adorable Matthew Mitcham is from before the Delhi games, but he’s just so quotable.  On his spare time, “I’m really boring. The most interesting thing I do is dance around the living room in my underwear to 'Operator Please' every now and then.” Or his home life, “It’s just me, my partner Lachlan and my puppy Louis — he’s a Maltese-cross and I’ve had him for two years. He can do a couple of tricks now. And I’ve had Lachlan four years. He’s very obedient, too.” He also thinks farts are funny.

All of our favorite (and least favorite) Twitter celebrities are back online, thanks to a whopping $500k donation from pharmacy mogul Stewart Rahr. I’ve read that the celebrities with the most followers also have the least influence online, and I guess this stunt proved it.

I have to admit I’m fairly disgusted with our federal government pressuring companies to drop Wikileaks. From Amazon to PayPal, they’re cutting off a dissenting voice. If the New York Times had broken this information, it would have gone differently. As for Julian Assange, he’s turned himself into Scotland Yard to answer for those sexual assault claims that popped up right when the U.S. got mad at him. Meanwhile Roman Polanski sweeps awards ceremonies in Europe.

The creator of Better Off Ted is prepping a new sitcom called Sunnyside, which is about a family moving back to their hometown to raise their kid. Hopefully it will be quirky and fun like the gone-too-soon Ted.

Gareth Thomas is optimistic about Mickey Rourke playing him in a biopic, but he’s not looking forward to going back to that dark place called the closet so he can write the screenplay.

Out director Lee Daniels has switched talent agencies. This isn’t normally something I’d bother reporting, but the comments at Deadline.com are universally about what a crazy, difficult jerk Daniels is to work with. I had no idea Hollywood hated him.

Chris Colfer has booked his first big screen adventure, called Struck By Lightning. All we know is that it’s a coming-of-age comedy from the director of Youth In Revolt.

HijiNKS ENSUE, the geek comic with a major gay character is doing presales with their second book. I know I’m a huge fan of the strip, so this should be good.

I know I’m not happy that according to new guidance from the Scottish Tartans Authority, you are now supposed to wear underwear under your kilt.

It seems that Bois and Olsen are making their case to an appeals court on Prop 8 that intends to allow gay marriage to resume in California but make the case unappealable to the U.S. Supreme Court, and keeps the ruling from being nationally applicable.

ABC has scheduled midseason replacement Mr. Sunshine with Allison Janney and Matthew Perry in Cougar Town’s plum spot after Modern Family beginning February 9. Meanwhile, Happy Endings, which gives us a new gay character, bows after Cougar Town returns, at 10 PM EST on April 13th.

Buried deep in this set of spoilers about shows or storylines I don’t care about is the news that Uncle Saul is going to have boyfriend issues on Brothers & Sisters. An actual storyline for Saul and his boyfriend? I’ll believe it when I see it.

Katie Couric is going to sing with Mr. Schue when she appears on Glee.

If you needed a reason to watch Anderson Cooper New Year’s Eve instead of Dick Clark, Clark will have Willow Smith performing “Whip My Hair” on his show, and it will take you until at least Easter to get that out of your head.

Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh are all getting comic books. I hope kids aren’t allowed to read this stuff. Do comics have an “MA-17” rating?

I’m sure all three of them are beside themselves to know that the federal government will make a $12 billion profit on the bailout of Citigroup. Is it still a socialist takeover of the economy if we make boatloads of money when we exit?

December 10th at noon in Washington, D.C., SLDN will have a rally to tell Congress to stay in session until they pass the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell repeal. I know my boss doesn’t let me go on vacation if my work isn’t done, so it seems fair.
