News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

The Best Summer Movie Preview Ever!

Of the three, only Lorca identified as gay (and was executed for it by the fascists), but his relationships with Bunuel and Dali definitely outgrew simple "bromance". Given the quirky subject matter, it's probably safe to say that the much-hyped "Robert Pattinson gay sex scene" ensured the movie's (limited) release.

Outrage trailer

If you're more in the mood for politics than art, you might check out the already-controversial documentary Outrage (May 8), from This Film is Not Yet Rated filmmaker Kirby Dick. Outrage goes for the throats of closeted Republican politicians who work by day to deny gays and lesbians their rights.

Diego Luna y Gael Garcia Bernal in Rudo y Cursi

And adding some international flavor to the early-summer mix is Rudo y Cursi, a Mexican drama starring Y Tu Mama Tambien faves Diego Luna (Milk) and Gael Garcia Bernal (Bad Education) as two brothers whose breakout soccer stardom tests their relationship. While there's nothing gay about the film, early reviews say that it's a treat to see the two actors together again, even if they're not making out this time around.

Zachary Quinto as Spock in the Star Trek prequel

And of course if your eardrums survived Wolverine, you can always check out J.J. Abrams' souped-up, sexed-up Star Trek reboot (also May 8), which is getting stellar reviews for its 90210 take on the dusty but beloved sci fi franchise.

Rapper turned actor Common in Terminator Salvation

Moving to later in the month, gay-fave Christian Bale looks to inject some much-needed gravitas into the flagging Terminator franchise (yes, Sarah Connor Chronicles, we're talking to you) with Terminator Salvation (May 21).

Charlie's Angels mastermind McG is at the helm so we can expect some ridiculous action sequences, although the camptastic sense of humor that made that film a hit likely won't show its face here. But there is a truly bizarre supporting cast on hand (Jane Alexander, Helena Bonham Carter and Common in the same movie?) and the two new killer cyborg models (T-600 and T-800) will no doubt thrill viewers who like their men diesel (and stubborn).
