The Best Summer Movie Preview Ever! For those with different tastes, the zesty Norah Efron Julia Child dramedy Julie & Julia also opens on August 7. Thanks to gay-faves Meryl Streep and Amy Adams as the two lead ladies, this one will likely be worth checking out (especially given their excellent dynamic in Doubt). Plus, it's all about two things that are hard to turn your nose up at: Food and New York City.

Ang Lee's Taking Woodstock tells the story of Elliot Tiber, the gay man who unwittingly made his family farm the location for the Woodstock Music Festival in 1969. Based on Tiber's memoirs and starring Demetri Martin, Liev Schreiber, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen), Emile Hirsch (Milk) and Jonathan Groff (Broadway's Spring Awakening), it's one of the most anticipated comedies of the summer. The tuneful teens of Bandslam Centering around a new kid in school who assembles a scrappy rock band, the film gets a boost from turns by gay-fave Lisa Kudrow as the kid's mom and High School Musical superstar Vanessa Hudgens as one of his BFFs. If you liked Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, you might like this one. And here's the trailer: Submitted by on Wed, 2009-04-29 21:32. |

Summer looks amazing...
...though not all that gay. Thanks Brian for the heads up on the biggest and gayest movies coming up.
I am most look forward to Public Enemies. Michael Mann is the thinking person's action director. Should be hot!
Little ashes
check the plot - As predicted by Isaac Newton the second coming happened and as the world waited to see what was about to happen an appointed man was sent to meet God, hours later God had vanished and the man came out immortal; no apocalypse, no destruction and no salvation. This gave birth to a chain of holy wars that almost chattered Earth's civilizations and so giving birth to a mass colonization of planets to ensure peace by separation. Thousands of years later all was at peace by until Endings were born; humans connected to their planets in such a way that they are capable of destroying them should they wish it. Now Earth's Ending has been born and the day to pass judgment draws near.

Apart from that it is very hard to find if you think this inportant please pass it on
Forewarned is forearmed
afhickman
So it all comes down to "Little Ashes" and "Taking Woodstock." The rest of these films don't look remotely gay--or interesting. Maybe we'll fare better in Europe. But thanks for the warning, Brian!
"The mountain has wings."
The original Taking Of
The original Taking Of Pelham 1 2 3 was where Tarantino got the Mr. 'Colour' code names from. It's absolutely fantastic, so I can only imagine how terrible a remake with John Travolta is going to be.
There's always a chance HP will get some subtext. Apparently, they were going to reference an ex-girlfriend of DD's in the last film, but JKR told them not to, so they may well keep it in line with her later-revealed vision.
The Art of Being Straight
I was curious about the Art of Being Straight so I found the trailer: http://www.greatgraffiti.com/
There's also a link to the review from Variety which intrigues me.
The Art Of Being Straight
That trailer was intense.
A Whole lot more gay than the title would suggest, not what I expected at all.
Definitely resonates.
Can't wait to see it.
"Heterosexuality is not normal, it's just common." (Dorothy Parker)
That one looks interesting
Sacha looks good on a horse.
I can't stand Robert Pattison.
Outrage will end Charlie Crist's political career.
Interesting Summer
Although I am more of a "rent the DVD" kinda guy, methinks I will venture into a movie house this summer.
I'm only confused about one movie, Outrage, which appears to show the so called hypocrisy of closeted gay political leaders voting records on gay related issues.
Aren't the leaders supposed to vote what the majority of their constituents would want, instead of their own beliefs?
Of course, they should also lead by example and come out. Or is that the actual message of the movie?
Uh, Brian. . .
. . .last time I watched, the Wayans brothers were just a wee-bit homophobic . . .
I think I'm gonna wait and watch Ang Lee's Taking Woodstock, myself. . .
To be fair...
Saddness...
Reading this list just digs in deeper the fact we have such a long way to go still before a gay movie can leave the 'indy' idea and become blockbuster material. Would it ever be possible for say Northstar to not just show up in an X-Men movie, but to have a decent contribution to the movie? I'd like to say yes, but something tells me it won't happen for a looong time...

Take a break and explore the world of hedonism and pleasure-seeking!
Chuckles!
Some good movies this summer!
Some look interesting, like The Art Of Being Straight and Humpday. I have my doubts about Bruno, but it might be good.
The movies I am most looking forward to see though are Little Ashes and Taking Woodstock. Little Ashes has gotten some good reviews, and Taking Woodstock, well, it's an Ang Lee movie, so it's probably excellent!
Harvey Milk: You gotta give 'em hope.
Also keep an eye peeled for "Making the Boys"
