Are two Demetri Martins talking about playing gay in "Taking Woodstock"?

So far, we haven't seen Demetri Martin do a lot of promotion for his upcoming movie Taking Woodstock. Friday night he appeared on The Tonight Show, but based on web searches, it appears the only other time he has discussed the movie and his gay role at length was in an interview with us from February.

Martin's Tonight Show appearance has become a topic of discussion for gays after Andy Towle called out the gay panic humor in the segment (and we mentioned in the briefs yesterday). After jokingly caressing Martin, fellow guest Shaquille O’Neal pretends to be repulsed by Martin as he talks about filming a scene where where he kisses another guy. As Martin tells it on The Tonight Show, filming the scene was an awkward experience, partly because his girlfriend had a role in it. As he told the story to Conan O'Brien:

Martin: There's a scene in the movie where I have to kiss a guy, where I have to make out with this guy. (at this point O'Neal moves away from Martin) Ang [Lee], the director said, listen, in that scene you have to kiss a girl first, and then you push her away, and then you kiss the guy. We can cast your girlfriend if you want....So the day comes, and I'm kind of dreading it but I'm like my girlfriend will be there so that's cool. We do the first take. I kiss my girlfriend, I have to push push her away. And then I have to go really make out with the guy in front of her. And I hadn't anticipated...

O'Brien:The weirdness of doing this in front of your girlfriend.

Martin: And then, like eight takes later -- we keep doing it over and over again. And it was weird cause it was like girlfriend, push her away, guy, oh yeah I want to kiss you, and then, okay girlfriend again. I had like 500 Altoids that night. I thought it would make a difference.

O'Brien: You've never had to kiss a guy

O'Brien: It was college!

It sounds like an awkward experience. Not only does the director offer to ease the tension by casting Martin's girlfriend for the opposite-sex kiss, but he describes the experience as "weird" and ended up devouring plenty of mints.
