Counting Down Harry Potter's 10 Most Bromantic Moments

We’re a little over a week away from the final installment of the Harry Potter film franchise. For many of us, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 represents the end of an era that has carried us from childhood into adulthood. What are we going to do when the final credits roll? Why, we're going to reread the books and rewatch the movies again and again, of course! (Well, that and we're going to Pottermore!)

One of the best things about J. K. Rowling’s world are the friendships she created between her heroes. We came for the magic and stayed for the relationships. So in honor of the final chapter, here are 10 bromantic moments that will live longer than Lord Voldemort.

10. Harry and Ron meet on the Hogwarts Express. (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone)

One of the most moving scenes in all the Potter books was when Harry bought every kind magical snack to share with Ron on their first trip on the Hogwarts Express. “[He] had never had anything to share before or, indeed, anyone to share it with.” Ron and Harry had some of their finest friendship moments on that train. Of course, Harry also had his share of jealous fits every time Ron sat with someone else.

9. Gilderoy Lockhart looks in a mirror. (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets)

Ah, the epic romance between Gilderoy Lockhart and Gilderoy Lockhart. Never in all of literature has their been a man more in love with another man. Gilderoy was in constant raptures over Gilderoy’s winning smile, fine hair, charming posture, unparalleled wit, uncommon wisdom. Even when he (literally) lost his mind, Gilderoy never stopped admiring Gilderoy.

8. Cedric and Harry push aside their feelings for Cho Chang and reach for the Triwizard Cup together. (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire)

Noble, long-suffering Cedric and accidental Cup contender Harry competed for more than glory and riches in the fourth installment of the Potter saga. They also competed for the affection of Cho Chang. Cedric and Harry loathed and admired each other in equal measure, but during the last task they set aside their differences and hormones to claim victory for Hogwarts together. Of course, their momentary shared heroism ended in Cedric’s immediate and untimely death.

Whoops.

7. Ron abuses his prefect power by threatening anyone who hurts Harry’s feelings. (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix)

Harry spent the first 300 pages of Order of the Phoenix raging at Ron and Hermione. He couldn’t even contain his jealousy when Ron bested him — for once — by earning a prefect badge. But Harry’s petulance didn’t diminish Ron’s affection. When Seamus & Co. verbally assaulted Harry on their first day back at Hogwarts, Ron jumped in and threatened everyone with detention if they said another upsetting thing to his best mate

6. Harry believes Ron can do anything. (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince)

In Half-Blood Prince, Ron was faced with the most daunting task of his Hogwarts life: He had to play Quidditch Keeper — in front of people. Harry pretended to slip him some Felix Felicis and Weasley became our king. Of course, Harry didn’t really use the illegal potion for personal gain. He knew all Ron really needed was to believe in himself. So Harry believed enough for both of them.
