Surro-GateDid anyone else watch this episode of American Dad? I can't decide which quote I like more: "A baby isn't like a fire, you can't just rub two sticks together and go 'whoosh'" or "I've always said you can't raise children in an abnormal environment. You know what that'll do to society? Girls playing with trucks, boys playing with dolls, horses eating each other!" All in all it seems right up AfterElton's alley, but maybe I just missed the blog post. In case there isn't one, here's a brief story synopsis taken from iTunes. "When Francine decides to be a surrogate for her gay neighbors Terry and Greg, Stan's Republican blood boils. Although he pretends to be happy, when the baby is born, Stan kidnaps her and heads to the Nebraska boarder, where gay couples have no rights. Meanwhile Steve and Roger pull a Howard Hughes and become reclusive after they think Klaus is out to get them." Submitted by Jacob (708 points) (140 posts) on Mon, 2007-12-03 19:18. |

When did this
This past Sunday. I think
This past Sunday. I think it was mentioned on the AE blog.
Jacob I like the second
quote, it nicely sums up the ignorance that exists about child rearing in society. The first mistake people make is that the arrangement of husband and wife is somehow the best arrangement, without taking into account the personalities that are involved. A significant percentage of straight couples that have kids are dysfunctional and anything but "normal". A significant percentage of gay and lesbian couples that have kids are functional and quite healthy.
As for guys playing with dolls and girls playing with trucks, I believe that is really genetically determined more than anything else. I had opportunities to play with dolls and to play "house" with my sister. I didn't because it was boring. I wanted to play with cars and creating imaginary "smash-ups" or having "dogfights" with two toy airplanes!
Cheers
