AFA announces Nuke Kissing Ban
The American Family Association is the parent organization of the American Family News Network, which operates OneNewsNow.com.
Procter & Gamble urged to remove homosexual couple from daytime soap "The company's actions have also prompted the American Family Association (AFA) to issue an "Action Alert" against P&G. Randy Sharp, AFA's director of special projects, says P&G should stop pushing the homosexual agenda. "What Procter & Gamble has done by not having a neutrality policy on any controversial issue [is] they've now put themselves in the middle of this battle between homosexual activists and those who aspire to more traditional family values -- especially on network TV in the public forum," argues Sharp.

Traditional Family Values....
....like wife beating and abusing your daughters and everyone being too scared to disclose....yay for the good old days...
I say we take the warning labels off everything and let nature take it's course.
What about non-traditional family values?
I don't know...call me stupid or something but how come no one notices when two gay men fall in love, totally commit to one another, and then go on to successfully adopt a child? Dan Savage, the openly gay (and married, WITH an adopted son) American sex advice columnist/author/journalist/newspaper editor is a perfect example of this, yet gay couples (either men or women) are constantly being told that what we're doing is wrong simply because we can't "procreate" and carry on those "traditional family values."
Many many people are simply blind to the fact that gay couples can be (and are) beneficial to adoption agencies all over the world. It is PROVEN that we are capable and CAN provide loving and stable homes and offer a child the proper (and even better) nurturing he or she needs to grow up and become a decent, respectable and hard working individual. Quite simply, gay couples are "easing the burden" of all the adoption agencies and we are offering yet another alternative to get children abandoned by the "traditional family" into said homes. The world is constantly changing, yet the mentality is not. Peace :)

It's hard to understand
for someone from Germany that christian organisations can have that much power in the USA, and it's freaking me out. We're all the time talking about muslims, how they aren't respecting other religions and opinions or how they're treating homosexuals and women. Honestly, I don't see much difference between radical christians and radical islamists (is that the correct word?).
Maybe it's time to show the AFA the switch-button on their remote control, the one I'm using whenever I see another straight couple making out. ;-)
FINE.
gosh, i am so sick of the way nuke's been handled that i am begging they go away.
obviously, nobody is going to be pleased and nobody seems to want to take a stand.
The AFA is a vile hate group...
According to "Small Town Gay Bar", AFA chief ayatollah Wildmon and his minions would hide outside a gay bar, note down the license plate numbers of cars parked outside, and read them out on the air, "to keep them accountable", in other words, thus encouraging violent crimes against gay people.
Someone MUST have audio recordings of that. Then we can destroy Wildom and his vile organization. They deserve no less than utter and complete annihilation.
In the meantime, advertisers and companies known to have caved in to this disgusting hate group must be held accountable. In other words: it must be more damaging for a company to be seen giving in to the AFA than to support pro-gay programming. Aravosis knows a thing or two about such efforts.
F*ck them
With a long-handled spoon.
I know that wasn't very dignified, but I don't feel very much like being diplomatic or reserved at the moment.
This is a soap opera, where all kinds of racy and controversial content is featured on a daily basis. Two guys kissing is not the end of the world; it's just a facet of gay life. Which is just a facet of life, in general. I'm so sick of self-righteous, hate-mongering blow-hards cramming their own "agenda"-- homogenizing everyone into a perfect little Christian, hetero, June + Wally Cleaver-esque family model-- down our throats under the guise of being "morally superior", "concerned for our youth", blah, blah, blah. These people need to worry more about their own lives and less about two kids kissing on a daytime soap + the inevitable havoc said smooching will wreak on society as we know it.
*eye roll*
AFA Hypocrisy
Why would anyone who is concerned about promoting "traditional family values" be watching a soap opera in the first place?
Even when they're not
Even when they're not watching it, the gay kissing sets their Spidey Senses a-tingling.
Seriously, though, they just can't stand the thought that somewhere, at some point, even completely unseen, there are non AFA people who might be finding a modicum of happiness or romantic satisfaction.
Actually, I doubt they were
Actually, I doubt they were or are watching! My guess is they just stumbled onto a publicity gold mine. Who actually had ever heard of AFA before the kissing ban thing. The fact is that AFA was targeting P&G the Main co. not the TV part of the co. for their so called pro-homosexual advertising before the Nuke storyline and now that they have a public stage courtesy of this Nuke story, they are going to run with it. Its those that are alert to opportunities and have the unmitigated gall to exploit them that usually get their name out there.
I think that the AFA needs to be called on its hypocrisy regarding family values and asked why are they watching a program that fosters infidelity, murder, drug use, prostitution and other crimes against the family?
Actually ask them why they are watching a show that they should deem as completely evil in their minds. Lets find out why they are watching! Because if they aren't then they don't know what they're talking about, do they? And this needs to be pointed out!
"You bit the hand, Marty, You bit the hand!"
The AFA's war
In 1996, the AFA launched a boycott against Walt Disney Company for extending benefits to domestic partnerships. Since there is no federal law that demands equal rights for GLBT, large corporations have been forced to establish their own nondiscrimination policies in hiring and health care. It makes good business sense if they wish to find the best employees, both gay and straight. Numerous articles have been written on the subject. If AFA were to ban all of these companies, they would be banning the Fortune 500. The choice to ban P&G, Ford and a couple of others was arbitrary.
Basically the AFA are the media arm of a large right wing movement to turn back all human rights which can probably be traced back all the way to opponents of the Bill of Rights.
There is good money in promoting hate, and they are able to gain converts and donations by opposing the 'convenient sin', homosexuality. If they could gain converts by opposing infidelity, they would, but they would also have a hard time recruiting ministers.
The AFA Agenda
The AFA do seem to be pleased with the current kissing ban.
Interesting in this press release and alert to their minions is the idea of "neutral" which they use to frame the entire debate. There are three obvious positions in any debate like this, at least three positions people tend to frame in their mind. The right wing position the left wing position and the central position. At least this is the way that the majority of americans perceive these things. Very few people admit to being on the left or right of any subject; most self-describe their positions as being in the center. It doesn't matter how extreme their position is, they will believe it is close to the center, (right of center, left of center.) "Neutral" is a term being used to frame this position of re-enforcing bigotry as a centrist position, which it isn't. The majority of americans defy bigotry.
Neutral also suggests not doing anything but to preserve the status quo, which in fact isn't a 'neutral' decision but a decision, in this case, to re-enforce bigotry. The AFA's ultimate solution would be to eliminate Nuke entirely, but the centrist, or neutral, position they suggest specifically bans the couple from kissing. But of course they would really rather have the couple hang around to demonstrate the evils of being gay, to hold them as a model they can continually punish for being gay. This seems to be exactly what P&G are doing.
There is a gay agenda, a basic agenda. It is the agenda of every decent person in america. The agenda is to end hate and to end discrimination. The agenda is to promote understanding and to promote human rights.
The AFA has an agenda, it is to profit from hate mongering. Someone wondered how they can be so powerful. It is because they are able to professionally frame these arguments in the media. To them this is a debate about a radical agenda and a neutral position. That's all the public hears when these bigots are asked to speak on CNN.
These "family values" groups are ridiculous
