Manga-Yaoi List-My Faves>^-^< Hey! If you like Yaoi, then this is for you!
My most favorite of the (4) is, 'the Day I Become a Butterfly.' The other stories are amusing and uniquely creative. 'Blue Cat Tunnel,' has to be the most touching, the way it is told. FAKE. Cop drama, great if
FAKE. Cop drama, great if you always wondered what would happen if Starsky or Hutch pursued the other.
Gravitation. An aspiring pop star is out to make it big and win over the Simon Cowell in his life.
Princess Princess isn't nearly as upfront, but there's a strong suggestion of yaoi. Funny, sweet and just a tad weird.
From Eroica With Love isn't yaoi but it's a fun read- kinda what you'd get if a Bruckenheimer-type movie brought in a campy gay character.
SGt. Frog. If you though Lilo and Stitch wasn't gay enough, this is worth a look. All sorts of love triangles pop up amongst a group of frog aliens looking to conquer Earth and the humans who take them in. The junior officer's all into his commander and there's a cute lesbian ninja girl.

Some of the other titles I enjoyed and discussed in my look at YAOI included big gay melodrama Shout Out Loud as well as the work of Fumi Yoshinaga (The Moon and the Sandals, Antique Bakery) who manages to write escapist romance that acknowledges the challenges gay people face. If you liked Fake you might want to take a look at Yellow, which reminds me of Silk Stalkings the way Fake reminds many of Starsky and Hutch.
I also liked Treasure!, about a gay couple who try to escape the repression of the Victorian era by joining the navy, only to have the couple separated by a pirate ship... good escapist fun and Dost Thou Know an innuendo-laden story about rival fencers.
To be honest, there's a lot of YAOI I don't like, so nowadays I stick to creators I trust or titles I've read good reviews. One reviewer I trust is David Welsh who discusses manga at Precocious Curmudgeon. David and I have similar tastes and is really good at breaking down what works about a title.
"Fake!" is hilarious! It's
FAKE is totally the spawn of
FAKE is totally the spawn of 70s/80s American cop shows. It's campy, fun and still one of the only places to see gay male action heroes. I hope the sequel ("Like like love") gets published here- it's so sweet and ties up loose ends.
If you wanna see the French spin on 70s cop shows, look up Funky Cops. Ace and Dick run across all sorts of thinly veiled 70s celebs as they fight crime in San Francisco and disco dance.
But the all-time worst yaoi I've tried out is Loveless. It's really on the pedo side of things, with cat ears and tails being visible signs of virginity... and a creepy meeting scene between the two main characters. Then again, I'm not into the pretty boys angle of it. I just want more gay genre fiction. So I read lotsa yaoi and yuri, write more political/parody slash and got an inclusive comic in the works.
Fake is fake...
Gravitation was great as a manga, until near the end. It's anime is great! Love the pink hair! An animated boy version of Tonks, only shorter, skinny, and not dating a werewolf, just an egotistical romance novelist. About the same!

Ugh, the Day I Become a Butterfly was horrid. It doesn't even count as yaoi! Most of the stories in it were het! Stupid... but I will recommend some good ones in a nice long list:

And in yaoi lemon (graphic sex) anime, they never show the penis. It's either see through (Level C) or it's a golden cone.
