TV Guide: Nuke

TV Guide published a new article on Luke and Noah.

NUKE-LEAR FALLOUT
TV GUIDE Soaps News by Michael Logan

Why won't As the World Turns let gay teens Noah (Jake Silbermann) and Luke (VAn Hansis) kiss on screen, much less have sex? Are execs at the CBS-Procter & Gamble soap homophobic? are they running scared of antigay Christian Groups? Or is this a brilliantly master-minded tease guaranteed to make salivating Nuke fans tune in tomorrow?

Whatever the case, this is the biggest controversy to hit soaps in years. Legions of pissed-off Nuke-anistas -a lot of them straight -Have spammed the media with complaints about bias against the duo, and many are calling for a viewer boycott. Meanwhile, the right-wing American Family Association reportedly wants the teens dropped from the soap and has asked P&G to make it happen. P&G has banned ATWT executive producer Chris Goutman from speaking to the press about Nuke, so I contacted CBS daytime chief Barbara Bloom to get her POV.

Editor's Update: Hey, folks. I had to delete the rest of this post as we can't post entire articles from other sites. That is copyright infringement and can get us in trouble. I know it's frustrating that the link to the article isn't yet available online (I checked) but we have to respect other publication's copyrights. Just like AfterElton.com doesn't want other sites completely lifting our articles that we work hard on, TV Guide is the same. As a rule of thumb, feel free to post a paragraph or two, but then link back (when available). And If not available, you can just discuss what the article had to say. Thanks for your cooperation!

TV Guide Nuked

While Logan mentions Proctor and Gamble, CBS allows them to hide behind the network saying "We're in the business of getting people to watch more." First time I have heard the them take any credit for the show.

Logan did mention that he felt ATWT were "milking it for all it's worth." I wish he had said that it is exploitation, because that's what 'milking it' boils down to.

I remember when Luke said "What is hotter than a forbidden romance?" but I was unimpressed, because all we have gotten is the forbidden and none of the romance. And that's boring.

P&G Nuked

Well, if their goal is to get more people watching they failed with me.  I started watching because of Nuke and have since given up because the storyline sucks.  Occasionally I check the YouTube clips but honestly they make me so annoyed that I usually can't even sit through a five minute, Nuke-specific clip.

Now I am a former ATWT fan and viewer

I have totally given up on ATWT...All the storylines are absolutely ridiculous.  Bad writing abounds.  I really feel sorry for all the actors who have to follow through with the storylines and try to make it believable.  There are a lot of good actors on ATWT and believability is not happening at all.

I was a devoted ATWT fan from way back and especially during the Doug Marland era on the show.  Most of the legacy characters still on ATWT were introduced during his reign.  It's sad to see all that he did to build up an devoted audience for ATWT being turned to manure.

SAD...SAD...SAD!!!

I've been lurking around

I've been lurking around some of the fan forums and a lot of the girls especially seem to be jumping ship from Luke and Noah to the much slashier pairing of Matt and Casey (which one fan called Beecher and Keller Light! LOL!). And that's sad to see, as the story had so much potential.
