I think if two people want to get married to each other, they have every right to, whether gay or straight....
I will say that marriage being sacred is way out the freaking window and the whole "between woman and a man" thing is also way out the window....
the only thing that is in the window is divorce. with that said, I've come to personally loathe marriage and everything it is supposed to stand for. I feel a lot of people don't take it seriously enough. whether they ever did, is beyond me.
..but if people want to do it, they have every right to make that decision.
I think that Civil Partnerships aren't the same and there're not the same as marriage in the church, they are seen as the same as a marriage in the law but only in certain countries or something.
My opinion is that if 2 people love each other whether 2 men, 2 women or 1 man and 1 women they should be able to get married if they want 2 because if 1 of the couple is Religious a Civil Partnership isn't the same.
Gay people shouldn't be treated any different 2 straight people, they're not aliens so if they want 2 get married they should be able 2.
My friends that are gay or bi are as fun and comfortable to be with as my straight friends so i hate people that are homophobic and people who don't think that gay people can get married and have the same rights and treatment as straight people are technically homophobic.
The stuff i said aren't facts cos i haven't searched it, it's all my opinions! sorry if some if wrong info but im not exactly an expert on gay rights.
If we accept marriage as a religious term then the most logical step would be for the *state* to stop talking about marriage altogether. There is supposed to be a separation of church and state so why should the state have the ability to hand out a religious concept like marriage? They should just step back and have only civil unions (with whatever legal advantages there are for coupled people) for all people, including straight people and leave the "marriage" issue to the various churches who can hand out marriages at their on discretion. Some recognized churches accept gay marriage, so why wouldn't the state accept it? Especially if they also recognize Hindu and Muslim marriages. It just makes no sense. Either they have to accept all marriages from recognized religious communities or just step back and stop evaluating the religious component on a state level alltogether, having only legal unions for everybody.
well....
such an interesting question on a site like this.
