NYT NUKE

It seems like the online article was cut from the whole article. I only saw one page. I don't like NYT online anyway.

NYT: "Winston Mayer (Daniel Hugh Kelly), a colonel who served in Iraq during the gulf war and tried to have Luke killed when he discovered his son was gay. It is amazing that the armed forces haven’t leveled their own protest against As the World Turns for prejudice against the military."

Actually, ATWT handed itself a reprieve of sorts. Right after Mayer's shooting to kill Luke, a Major Gerard MacLaine from Fort Leonard Wood makes a scary appearance to acknowledge that Col. Mayer is still considered a "hero" by the Army, even though they are aware he is a homophobic murderer in civilian life. The message being that as long as you are a G.I. you can murder gay folks and still retain your honer. The NYT confirms it. We can be considered enemies of the state, like we didn't know that all ready.

Interesting to me is that the NYT was unfazed by the fact that Winston Mayer would murder his x-wife for no real reason other than he bumped into her once 15 years after their divorce, but they are concerned that the Army isn't protesting the show over an Army (retired) members hate crime. That is horribly sad considering the Army's record of murdering one of their own, Barry Winchell, for being gay. Shame on Ginia Bellafante of the NYT.
