Like I needed more reasons to love Olli - Plus questions for the show veteransI was watching some early clips of Olli during his first run...I have some questions about this clip 1st...could he be any more adorable?
2nd...I thought Charlie was Olli's aunt. Why doesn't she even know who he is in this clip? But in the next clip they are friends. 3rd...The place that the New Years party is at...is that an older version of No Limits? It looks different 4th...the place Charlie is at when she reads the books Olli left...is that Schneiders? 5th...Who is the Christian in these clips? 6th...No Limits and Schneiders are both bars/pubs, right? Schneider's is up scale and No Limits is more casual, right? Olli is beyond adorable. How could any guy turn him away...he's so cute when he's working through his troubles. Christian better not hurt him!!
ummm...the karaoke scene...look familiar? I'l have to call my Brother and Sister and ask. Submitted by GayTVluver (2766 points) (566 posts) on Sat, 2008-05-24 23:24. |

1.) old!Olli was certainly
1.) old!Olli was certainly adorable in his own way. So naive and completely unwilling and unable to hide his feelings at all.
2.) Maybe she didn't recognize him? She picks up the libary card and reads his name like she is going "hmmmm". So maybe she only recognized his name there and put the pieces together. ETA: Jepp, according to the daserste homepage Olli also didn't know initially that she was his aunt.3.) I think so. After all that was 5/6 years ago and in the meantime the No Limits has been remodeled a bunch of times. If you watch the Ollian playlist, in one of the early episodes Olli mentions to Christian that he too used to work at No Limits 5 years ago and that it looked very different.
4.) I think so.
5.) Isn't that old Christian like the most gaydar pinging actor ever? Yet his character was apparently quite the heterosexual hunk back then. The name of the character was Christian Toppe. According to the VL history page he was a friend of the character Felix, lived in the flatshare with Tom and various others, was a waiter at No Limits and occasional DJ. His main romance was with a character named Lara, but he also had a long standing crush on Tom's sister Alexa.
6.) I think Schneiders might be more of a restaurant. I think both are usually refered to as "bistro" which I think means that they serve minor food/snacks rather than huge meals.
Although
I've seen the story when it originally aired, it is quite difficult to recall.
1) What I remember though, is that I really had a crush on Oli back then! :-) I found him very cute at that time.
2) Charlie's family comes from a small town in the north of Germany called "Meppen". She had a falling out with her sister Henriette (Oli's mother, who we haven't seen (yet?), but is always referred to as really horrible) and moved to Dusseldorf at least 13 years ago (as Charlie is on VL from the very beginning) and didn't have any contact with Oli's mother since then. So, in this scene she hasn't seen her nephew Oli for at least 4 years and of course didn't recognize him, only his surname on the library card like LolaRuns wrote. More likely Oli could have recognized her, but in Germany Schneider ("Taylor") is too common to notice in contrary to Sabel and Oli didn't even look at her.
As the youtube-clip is pieces of episodes put together just focussing on the Oli-Tom-plot, the pieces of the recognizing-storyline between Oli and Charlie are left out.
3 ) It's No Limits, but like LolaRuns wrote there have been some renovations and changes of owners over the years.
4) Yes, it is.
6) No limits is sort of a pub, where you can drink alcoholics and non alcoholics and get some limited food (breakfast & sandwiches)
Schneiders is called "bistro", but is a posh restaurant with a bar.
How did Christian's brother come to own No Limits?
I don't see Christian's brother in any of the old Olli episodes. Did he use his escort money to buy No Limits from someone?
How was Christian introduced to the show? Was he introduced just to further the storyline about his father? Or had he always been a part of the show?
Thank you for clearing up the Bistro thing for me. In the old episodes I keep hearing Tom say that he is gonna buy the Bistro from Charlie. I thought maybe that old restaurant was called "The Bistro"...Charlie sold it to Tom and then used the money to open up Schneiders. But I see now that Schneider's is the "bistro" they keep talking about.
So since Olli is bi...did he ever have a hot romance on the show with a girl?
I'm sure people with long viewing history have a different perspective...but...boooo, Tom!
Old school Olli vs New Olli is interesting to see...he's matured a lot. In both appearance and personality.
Gaytvluver...from what i've
GaytVluver...from what i've read regarding Olli's background story, he's never had a relationship with a woman. I only know there was that kiss with Coco. As far as I can tell, he seems to have only have had relationships with men. Even when he was away on the Cruise ship for several years, it sounds like he only had flings with the men on the ship. I don't even know if he is attracted to women at all since it's never been actually mentioned by Olli himself. And God knows Olli is one beautiful man, so it's not like he would have a problem hooking-up with a woman if that was his choice.
I suspect the bi label came about because of the kiss with Coco? And wasn't that . kiss after they had been drinking or at a club? Ad lets be honest...plenty of gay men have kissed women, and it doesn't make them bi, it just means they kissed a woman under whatever circumstance.
Going by what i've read and the older clips on YouTube, I would class Olli has gay. But it's only from my perspective. Maybe someone with more indepth information can enlighten us.
Olli did talk about his bisexuality...his label
Hi Maxine. If you watch the stuff from Olli's first run on the show you'll see where he talks about being bisexual. Watch this clip > Here<
I'm trying to go through the older stuff of the show but it seems like most the clips featuring Olli have been stripped to his gay stuff only...it's either Olli and Tom or the Ollian story. There isn't much that I've seen featuring his other relationships. He has a Wiki page that doesn't help much.
Olli hasn't had that many
Olli hasn't had that many stories. He was on the show for two years during his first stint. Out of that about one year was the Tom and Olli storyline (in fact, they broke up a few weeks after their on show one year anniversary). After the Ulli/Tom/Olli triangle Tom and Olli had mostly minor storylines (Olli's mother came for a visit and cut off Olli's money, Tom didn't have enough time for Olli because of his work, new people moved into the flatshare, Tom needed money to open his own practice, Tom proposed to Olli, but Olli didn't feel ready to get married yet etc).
Then after Tom and Olli broke up, Olli had a mostly non-romantic storyline. After Tom and Olli ended Olli pursued Lukas (he had already had a crush on Lukas when he was still with Tom and it was probably part of the reason why Olli broke up with Tom). What he didn't know was that Lukas was a conman trying to con Olli's aunt Charlie and he was using Olli to get closer to Charlie. He gave Olli false hope and even kissed him once and told him he loved him but they had to keep it a secret all while romancing Charlie too. Finally Olli couldn't shut up about it and told Charlie that Lukas was his boyfriend after which Lukas denied anything ever happened and claimed that he loved only Charlie. Charlie belived Lukas that Olli was just acting out of jealousy and Olli and Charlie had a falling out and Charlie wouldn't believe Olli that Lukas was a conman.
So Olli's next storyline was mostly about him trying to prove to Charlie that Lukas was a badguy and trying to make a quick buck because he owed some badguys (who were on cahoots with Lukas) some money. The story eventually ended with Charlie paying off the badguys, Olli being able to convince Charlie that Lukas was trouble and Charlie and Olli making up. After that Olli left the show and Charlie stayed and vowed to get revenge on Lukas and the other badguys who were eventually all sent to jail.
So Olli's main storylines were:
- Tom (Tom/Ulli)
- Lukas (non-romantic, mostly about proving to Charlie that Lukas was bad)
- Christian
So there were no other major romances in Olli's life.
Thanks Lola for the Olli info
That was really what I was curious about. You should edit his Wiki page to include the info you just wrote.
BTW...where are Tom and Ulli now? I thought I read here at AE that they left the show as a reunited couple after Olli and Tom broke up.
Thank you so much for that
Thank you so much for that clip GayTVluver. I've never seen it before, but yep, straight from the horses mouth...Olli said he's attracted to both men and women and does identify as Bi.
And like you said, since most of the stuff presently available really just involves Olli's past relationships with Tom and now Christian, and without any mention of involvemnt with women, one would just assume he's gay.
No Limits and bi Olli
From what I understand the No Limits used to belong to Cecile. Cecile and Gregor were close friends. They shared a flat for a long time and he supported her through her romance with Leonard. When she died in a tragic accident she left the No Limits to Gregor. I think it burnt down once, but Gregor renovated it with the money he inherited when one of his, err, benefactors (female) died.
Gregor's dream, before he had the No Limits was to own a helicopter service and that's why he made his money as a callboy, so he could have his helicopter service. But when he had an accident his eyesight was damaged and he was told he would never be able to fly again, hence only No Limits, no more helicopter service.
Christian was brought on in late 2006. Gregor had already been with the show for a year or so at this point. Christian was brought on mainly to be the focal point of a two girls, one guy triangle between Nico and Coco. He initially dated the self confident and independant Nico, but Coco, Nico's best friend also had a crush on him. There was a lot of Coco suffering silently, Coco doing some conspiring against Nico, Nico and Coco arguing, Coco trying to prove herself by being the better friend to Christian, etc. As alluded to in the Ollian clips, Christian was arrested a second time when he was accused of beating up Nico's creepy boss. Both Coco and Nico worked tirelessly to prove he didn't do it. Coco started writing letters to Christian in Nico's name. When he came back and found out that the letters were written by Coco, not Nico he was initially mad at Coco for deceiving him but then decided he loved Coco, stopped her from leaving the city and became a couple with her. Nico took a while to forgive them but did eventually and then left the show to pursue her career as a photographer. After that Christian and Coco remained a couple, but didn't have too many significant storylines, till Olli came and broke them up.
As for bi Olli, he's never had a hot and heavy romance with a woman on the show. His romantic interactions with women are as follows:
-) Had a girlfriend when he met Tom (hence the reason why Tom was so suspicious of him), but she was just some random extra and not a major character on the show, So I'm guessing she mainly existed so Tom and Olli would have something to argue about. (It was like: Tom meets Olli. Olli asks Tom to tutor him on some subject. Tom tutors Olli. Tom has a crush on Olli. Tom is heartbroken when Olli greets some girl as his girlfriend. Tom is blue because he thinks Olli is straight and laments that he always likes the wrong guys. Tom meets Olli again and Olli announces that he has broken up with Daniela. Olli beings to pursue Tom)
-) Olli had a one night stand with a bisexual woman named Jule when he wanted to get revenge on Tom for sleeping with Ulli. Tom and Olli reunited after that and stayed a couple for almost a year longer. Jule eventually (like a year later) left the show to be with her female lover Nina in Greece.
-) Olli kissed Coco. (and flirted with Lisa and I'm sure others)
Ulli officially left the
Ulli officially left the show when Tom and Ulli broke up (or rather, Tom and Ulli broke up because Ulli/the actor left the show). Then Ulli came back for a while for that mini triangle, then he left again. His leaving story was "lives in Munich to work there".
Tom stayed about two years longer. His official leaving story also was a job offer, but somewhere else, namely in Nepal (Tom was a doctor).
Then came the 10 year anniversary episode where the show wrote in a variety of old couples to keep the fans up to date with what those couples were doing offscreen. You can see the episode on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUwmLzuZSLM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoKHz7buP4Q
In it you can see tiny glimpses of Tom and Ulli as they run around and explain to the viewers how they got back together (after Tom returned from Nepal Ulli figured out when and where he would arrive, waited for him at the airport and sang their song for him; Tom moved to Munich and they are together). It's hard to explain why so many people consider that enough of a happy end for them. Probably because they were just that much of a supercouple together. Or they left without being too much tainted by other relationships, their love was still untouched (after all they also broke up for reasons that didn't have anything to do with third parties and the like). Not to mention VL has done it before, that one actor left before the other, so one part of a couple left and a few months later the other followed to be with them in wherever they went.
Thank you Lola for that
Thank's Lola for that detailed background information on Christian and Olli's past. Very much appreciated.
And how interesting about what happened between Tom/Ulli and Tom/Olli. I actually thought Ulli left the show and then returned a year later to rekindled his relationship with Tom. And then soon after they both got back together, left the show to live a long loving relationship side by side.
I really hope that Christian turns out to be the true love and soulmate for Olli. And I so hope the writers give us a positive ending for Olli and Christian...a really lovely SOAP couple.
