4 Time Will & Grace Guest Star and Oscar Winning Director/Producer Dies

For 4 episodes of the NBC series Will & Grace, Sydney Pollack appeared as Will's father George Truman (who played his father as acccepting of his son, but his last appearance didn't go so well), Oscar winner for Out of Africa (as Producer and Director) and Oscar nominated (Best Director and Director) for the 1982 gcomedy Tootsie (Dustin Hoffman became a woman after directors wouldn't hire his male character, an perfectionist that cost him his career) died Monday, May 26th of cancer.  He also frequently directed Robert Redford and once directed Redford with gay icon Barbra Streisand in the 1973 film The Way We Were and Produced the Matt Damon film The Talented Mr. Ripley.

My prayers and thoughts go to his family and colleagues.

Shocked and saddened

When I browsed through today's Washington Post and saw that Sydney Pollack had passed away, I couldn't believe it. I feel like I've still been seeing him on television promoting new stuff he was a part of. He was not only a wonderful writer and director, but when the times called for it, he could be a wonderful actor. It feels like only yesterday that I saw him in "Michael Clayton" for which he was nominated for the Best Picture Oscar as a producer and it actually was the day before yesterday that I watched the movie "Recount" which he was an executive producer of. It will be hard to adjust to a world without his name on so many producing credits. Here's to a great artist and a true master of his form.
