Is Brad Paisley a homophobe with latest single?I got my latest issue of Country Weekly yesterday and although I may be making a mountain out of a mole hill, I found an article that really pissed me off. It seems country artist Brad Paisley's newest single concerns his feeling that "America has tried to make men feminine." With most of the country audience being red-neck good ole boys, I see rampant discrimination towards gay country music fans with this sorry excuse of a song. His latest single is called; I'm Still A Guy. Several lines in this song suggest excessive homophobia. The second chorus in particular refers to dudes getting facials, manicures, being waxed, and even botoxed. With spray-on tans and lotioned hands, you can't hold a tackle box. Men lining up to be neutered, now it's hip to be feminized with highlighted hair, but he stills has a "pair." Paisley wrote this song with two of his associates and "they all just sat around laughing." This song to me is a direct slam to gay men. It's common knowledge that male country stars have a certain paranoia about any hint of being gay. There have been several "lavender marriages" in the past develop when a certain country star was hinted on being gay, all of a sudden they turn up hastily married. I intend on writing to the magazine to express my displeasure with Paisley and their endorsement of this latest slam against the gay community. If this individual ever appears locally, there will be picketing! Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 2008-06-18 10:27. |

Paisley?
I thought Brad Paisley was gay. Where did he and his "associates" sit around writing the song -- the sauna at the Nashville Tubs?
Methinks the lady doth protest too much. We've seen that play often enough -- let's see: last summer's production starred Larry Craig.
eh
it's just stupid, that's what it is. There are plenty of straight men out there who get facials and manicures.....I don't see it as an attack on gay men....i like to think of it as a sad attempt to probably hide his true feelings. reinforcement, i think is the word.....or denial will do.
:-P
Brad Paisley
I Know I was offended at
I Know I was offended at first. I'm a man but I take care of myself and I like to look nice. Just because you look like a country ass hick and dip scoal or chew tobacco doesn't mean your a man. But the song isn't actually attacking gay men its more attacking men that change themselves to please their girlfriends. Some of his lyrics are saying something like "You may think you're gonna change me, well darlin in some ways you might, but remember I'm still a guy."
