Veteran soap actor Laurence Lau (ex-Greg, AMC; ex-Sam, OLTL; ex-Jamie, AW) has been cast as Brian Wheatley, the director of the Luke Snyder Foundation.  Is he a good guy there to sweep Lucinda off her feet and has a cute gay son waiting in the wings to come between the boys?  Or is he a bad guy out to bilk Luke of all his money and is using Lucinda to do it, requiring another NYC location where the boys will rescue her from an attack by a needle?  Hey, you know this show, what do you think?  He will first air August 18th.

Greg? As in Jenny and Greg?

Greg? As in Jenny and Greg? Yikes!

Yep.....

That Greg.  I loved Greg and Jenny back in the day.  AMC was my first soap.  He's still a very handsome guy too.

Greg/Laurence Lau

showed back up in Pine Valley a couple of months ago for the re-marriage of Jesse and Angie (yes, the same Jesse that died twenty years ago - this is a soap opera, after all). I was a fan back in the day, and tuned in for the reunion. In case you missed it, and/or want to see what Greg (and Jesse and Angie) look like currently, check out this clip - I'd have never guessed by looking at them that all three are now in their mid-50s!

A love triangle??

The new guy with a gay son. Sounds too specific not to be true. I see another trainwreck on the horizon. The writers can barely write for the two gay characters that they have.

More Likley Lily

It's much more likely that he will be a new love interest for Lily than Lucinda.

But gay son for Luke?  That sounds fairly plausible.

Not For Lily....

I'm fairly certain he's not for Lily.  The show plans on moving her into a triangle with Holden and Mike.

Okay

Well that's too bad, the last thing Gilded Lily needs is another boring man (New Mike is the dullest one to ever play the role).

Lucinda has been married to Craig before, right?  So I guess she's just going back to her old Cougar ways.

Brian Wheatley

Yeah I read the script, too. I thought it was written for the 19th, but my math is bad.

Where are you pulling Brian's "gay son" from? He's defiantly enamored by Lucinda and it's cool to think of her getting some action. Con man? Could be, but that would be a nasty thing to do to her. Why would they?

Anyway, fans have been screaming for the ATWT to write stories for the veteran actresses, and not just the long time fans. New viewers, like my self, appreciate quality actors.

You made up the gay son.

It's Speculation...

.... and I never presented it as anything but such.  That's why things are posed in the form of a question.  Either of those things, none of those things or anything else is a possibility.

As for why they would turn this guy into a con man, Susan Stewart's last boyfriend turned out to be a serial killer so I wouldn't put anything past this show.  And knowing this show as I do, I don't seriously believe he's a long term love interest for Lucinda.  It would be nice if he turned out to be though.

But, he may not even be a love interest for Lucinda at all.  In the script, IIRC, he and Lucinda had just met and didn't know one another, but the casting spoilers are saying they are friends, indicating they have a prior history.  So the show may have changed things since the script that leaked.

speculation

As I remember the script, Nuke were meeting him for the first time, but it seems that Lucinda knew him. It is unstated when she met him or how, but she had evidently talked to the boys about him because the scene starts with Luke asking about Brian litagating the trust fund and Lucinda says "there he is, ask him yourself."

But what you said, the thing about his gay son, you just made that up. As cool as that would be, Nuke don't even have a manage et deux, how can they possibly have a manage et trois?

I'm Not Sure....

..... I could've sworn in the script he and Lucinda hadn't met before they were in contact for him to be hired to run the foundation.  I thought he said something about always admiring her and was glad he'd finally met her.  Or something like that.  At any rate, what we read in that script could be changed a dozen times over.

As for the gay son thing, I believe I used the word SPECULATION, meaning I'm speculating as to what is possible.   I certainly don't state it as fact because it's not a fact.  Just like he could be a con man.  And it is possible it could happen.  It seems like a typically soapy thing to do.  If he's working for Luke and Noah, odds are he's gay friendly so it's not a great leap to say he could have a gay kid.  And the boys don't have to have had sex bring in a third party.  Plus, you're assuming the boys won't be having sex anytime soon.  I'm not saying they will.  But they could.

Mike?

MIKE! What are these people smoking? Really!
Anthony D. Langford's picture

Terrible Idea!

But I think the show feels they need to do something with Mike.  Since for whatever reason they won't get rid of him, they're shoving him in Lily's orbit.  But as we all know eventually Holden and Lily will reunite, it's all a waste of time, really.

Brian and Lucinda sittin in a tree...

Yes, he did talk about having known her, but seemed to be refering to a recent meeting as well. "I never told you this but I did meet you before." Some thing like that is how I remember it. Like they had talked recently, but at the last conversation he failed to mention 1) he recognized her from before, and 2) he has always had the hots for her. Also Nuke were looking to meet the dude, Lucindas friend. They ask her if her fiend might be willing to help and she says, "ask him yourself, he's standing right over there." So she recognised him and had even mentioned him to Nuke prior to this scene.

From the script, it seems that Brian is on the up and up. He is blown away by Lucinda's charity work and he agrees to work with Nuke even though he's used to working with much bigger accounts. He's doing it for Lucinda. He basically shrugs the boys off while he hits on Lucinda.

It's a cute moment all around and there'd be no reason to revise it. I wouldn't be surprised if the script was leaked by the producers..
