ATWT character return and recast - NON NUKE RELATED SPOILER

TV Guide has an exclusive about the latest Craig Montgomery recast:

The actor seems to be a natural to make Craig more likable but without losing his edge. I am less afraid of the recast than the head writer's continued fascination with babies, in this case Johnny. This is the 4th Craig to be cast in as many years, so I hope that there is a longer-term goal than having Dusty and Craig scream at one another about "my son" or "Johnny" with more periodicity than Paul threatens to kill some one.

..... I'm afraid that's exactly what the story will be. Like Paul vs. Dusty Round 238757, it'll be more of the same with Craig. These writers have no imagination. Linstrom is a great actor though and can the darkness of Craig and still give the character humanity much like his characters on Port Charles and General Hospital.

While I really like Jon Lindstrom, I think maybe they need to retire Craig from ATWT. Craig was a charming cad, but charming cads don't age well. After over 25 years of doing nasty stuff to beloved characters, he has too much baggage to keep him likeable.

And with the accelerated speed that soaps move at today (how many times in one year can a character get married?) you can't believably reform him again.

I don't really know why I care--I've stopped watching ATWT as the writing has become unbearable, but I guess hope springs eternal.
