Glee: Did you watch it? What did you think?

Anybody else watch the preview episode of Glee on Fox last night?

I did.  I'll watch it again...it was entertaining and I liked the singing.  

The two main student characters...we'll call them Tracy Flick and Paul Metzler, because they were essentially from the movie Election, were probably the most interesting.  The rest were totally our of central casting.

There's a big black girl -- just as loud and head rolling as you'd expect.  There's a geeky kid in a wheelchair -- I'm sure his inhaler will come out in a future episode.  A goth girl -- unknown sexuality.  And then of course there is a the gay kid...a totally unlikeable gay kid, at least in the pilot episode.  He's got his nose in the air, he worries out bullies getting his Marc Jacobs dirty and he's uptight...totally the type of gay kid that red state middle America would be comfortable with watching. I only wish he was as interesting as Marshall from United States of Tara. In the preview they show that he's going to "audition" for the kicker position on the football team.  Audition?  The joke was obvious but unnecesary...an intellegent kid like that, even if he isn't into sports, would know that it's not an audition.

I fully expect him to make the team when, of course, he turns out to have some unknown talent as a kicker.  I'm also going to predict that a bully character we caught a glimps of will turn out to be a closet case and  Marshall-light will have something with him.

I'll watch it when the real season kicks in...the singing looks fun.
