I wrote to BBC America to see if they were going to show
Torchwood here in the states. They wrote back that they have no current plans to carry the series on BBC America. Damn! I hope ScFi Channel grabs it but I wonder if they'll avoid it because of the sexual content.

Torchwood on CBC
I find it frustrating and inexplicable that
It's A Fantastic Show....
It's a shame most folks in the states won't be able to see the show... it's absolutely fantastic and John Barrowman is wonderful and Jack. And one of the episodes has one of the hottest and romantic kisses between two men that I've ever seen onscreen. It was great. Luckily for me I have friends who live in the UK who tape the show for me. I suspect Sci-Fi will avoid it because of the sexual content. Too bad.

You too can see Torchwood
If you want to make the investment ( which I did) buy yourself a region free DVD player from Amazon. They are very cheap. I paid 70.00 for mine. Then you can buy the Torchwood DVDs off Amazon UK and you can play DVD's from all over the world. As a gay movie lover iot was one of the best investments I have made.
If you look hard enogh you can find dowmload of the series on newsgroupss as well.
It truly is a great series and J.B. as Capt Jack is a true Gay hero!!!! What a shame a show like this could never be produced in our country.
Torchwood DVD
Fortunately, I didn't need a region-free player. I rented the first five episodes from a local independent, gay-friendly video store called Generation X. Man, I love this place. Remember that scene in Clerks when Randall walks into that XXX video store and falls to his knees as if he's found the Holy Grail? I pretty much had the same reaction.
Anyway, it's the only place I can pick up the old classic Who DVDs, and I noticed they had a four-disc Torchwood set, so I snapped it up. Two discs were officially stamped by the BBC, and I assume region 2 formatted, while the others were handy region 1 bootleg transfers, but with full menu and options support.
I loved the first five episodes. The male cast is talented and attractive, and there's plenty of gratuitous male snogging and a welcome bit of beefcake. By contrast, the girls are rather clever and nerdy, as opposed to being the kind of background bimbo wallpaper you see in American genre television.
Torchwood is the perfect anodyne to relieve the stinging disappointment I feel towards the direction RTD has taken the new Who. It's aired in the UK at a later hour, and it gets away with everything DW doesn't (and shouldn't, IMO).
Agreed
You Really Should.....
You really should get the rest of the series if you can. The show only gets better as it goes on. One episode is incredibly moving and powerful. And another has one of the most romantic moments I've seen in quite sometime. Plus, there's plenty of action and adventure. It's a truly wonderful series. And we have to wait until next year for it to return! As for Dr. Who, I love it as well, just in a completely different way. But I really dig David Tennant, who I think makes a terribly sexy doctor.

BBC America WILL carry Torchwood

This is extremely exciting, especially in the context of an overall 'radical makeover' of programming.
