News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

If you could add a gay character (or more) to any TV show, what show would it be?

Jericho is a great show, though it doesn't have much diversity in general (what with it being based in a small town in Kansas, there's only one black family there - and they recently moved in from Washington). I'm always on pins and needles to find out what happens next, and of course I'm dying to know what exactly happened in the first place. It would be nice to have some gay character in there, somewhere.

My other vote would go for Heroes. :-P Ahem.

how about crime drama

There are so many crime dramas on tv- I watch quite a few, I would love to see one with the male lead as a gay character and have it not be the "point" of the show. Simply, the character happens to be a homicide detective, and gay, perhaps with a straight male partner that *doesn't* have issues. Now that is one that I would tape every week if the writing was excellent. Janet.

I'd add a gay character to...

... the 700 Club. Just Kidding.

I'd add a gay character to Friday Night Lights, Smallville, Supernatural, and/or Battlestar Galactica.

CSI, just because everyone

CSI, just because everyone watches it. They wouldn't even have to add a new character; just have Greg decide to come out at last.

Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Stargate Atlantis and Battlestar Galactica

Lost because there are so many different characters that a gay couple might shake it up. How about a couple who has lived in a remote shack -- away from the fray -- for 20 years. Grey's Anatomy would be great and they could deal with real-world homophobia onscreen instead of just off. Stargate Atlantis has many candidates! Just pick one. Might make for an interesting storyline of how to deal with the loss of your lover becoming food for the Wraith!!!

Gay Ghost

About this show. 1) That husband is hot. He's too perfect on the show. 2) I hope they have a gay ghost storyline. Either a) a parent who can't cross over until they have told their kid they accepted them b) a gay person who can't cross over because they never told the love of their life they were gay and loved them back.

Adding A Gay Character To Any Show

I would have to add one to Cold Case! I know they have had gay characters on before, but I'd like the show to include a gay regular character, a cop to team up with the two leads.

Gay character on Ghost Whisperer

There was a gay character on Ghost Whisperer in the first season.  Melinda was getting messages from a woman who died near an electrical station and her spirit was trying to communicate with her son who turns out to be gay and he later comes out to his father. I cannot remember the title of this episode but I know it was in the first season (When Andrea was on).

adding a gay character...

I'd like to see one added to a cartoon show like Teen Titans! I loooove that show because it's funny, cool and has interesting characters. I'd like to see a gay character join the team at least for a while, mostly to show (to kids) that it's OK to be gay and that gay people can be super-heroes too! Also would be cool to see them tackle more social issues about being gay, and just trying to be a teen ager dealing with adolescence (and super powers). ;)
