Writing for Kevin and Scotty
Ever notice that the show struggles to give them an overreaching storyline? In season 1 and 2 we had decent enough writing with all of the on again off again relationship drama. In those seasons there was obviously events set up that built on later events.
But seasons 3 and 4 the writing for these characters has been completely episodic. Every episode that gives them significant airtime falls into a specfic formula
beginning of episode: we are introduced to some issue that kevin and scotty have supposedly been talking about for a long time but never mentioned.
beginning/middle: kevin says the wrong thing
middle: kevin attempts to defend himself to every person he knows, most of whom tell him he is an idoiot
optional: kevin and scotty are in the room with at least one other walker and things really blow up
end: either nora or saul finally gets kevin to see reason
end credits: kevin goes back to appt and apologizes, often invoking cheesy gestures like darts, scotty forgives him after 5 seconds
i like kevin and scotty as the stable couple on the show but i am sick and tired of their storylines being so predictable. it makes me want to scream.
