Ta Da! Its Me! - Reveal Your Story To Other AfterElton Readers!
Welcome to the TA DA! Its Me! Forum! You probably found this forum through the Community Tab drop down menu or the Introduce Yourself parent. This forum began as an attempt to engage AfterElton.com Readers in the Community Forums by having them tell their stories. Readers old and new enthusiastically responded to create a forum that reveals honest stories about life. As you read through many of them, you will not only learn about the avatars opposite you, but also look at yourself and see that you aren't the only thinking, experiencing, or living the way you are. The forum has grown and this has become AfterElton.com readers' forum and no longer one Addison Dewitt started. I encourage all of you finding this forum for the first time or who have read every story but hasn't posted anything yet, to post and share with us a little of yourself.
With that said, below is the first post that started the forum, which is mine - Addison Dewitt.
Enjoy!

I thought I would kick the new look and feel of the site with a launch into the community forums and a re-introduction of sorts of myself. You may have seen me around for the last 2 years posting up a storm and portraying myself as a bubbly (bordering on giddy cheerleader), opinionated narcissist but discover that I am just a chatty guy next door that just wants to give everyone platonic hugs. At least that is what I hope you see! LOL!
A little about me (which may repeat my profile a bunch)...
I am a Virginia-raised Navy brat with California parents. I am came out at 25 but really knew since I was 14. It was a true journey of discovery that saw my parents embracing acceptance from the beginning and an open door to a happier me. I am a huge movie buff especially classic films of the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. My favorite film is Vertigo by Alfred Hitchcock. My avatar name is a character in the movie All About Eve. Although sometimes I can emulate with Tracy Samantha Lord in The Philadelphia Story. Her journey in that film sticks with me because she took a similar one like me from expectation and unhappy snobbery to exuberance and true knowledge of self. She realized that life was about living and loving and not station and judgement... especially harsh judgements of yourself. I am a huge national parks nut, having visited most of the large parks in the continental USA and Hawai'i. I have seen many beautiful vistas and witnessed many a beautiful animal on my hikes through the wilderness. Wandering is an obsession of mine, with my mantra mainly being "What's next!" in many ways. I think that is why at parties I am always the one asking the taboo questions because it truly tells who are the ones worth talking to in the end. Life and love are conversations you never want to end, so why live or love with the people who aren't truly themselves or true of heart, right?
My husband and I live near Baltimore, MD in a beautiful 1962 California Ranch-style home that needs some updating but is in excellent condition otheriwse. We have been together 4 years and recently legally married in October 2009 in a really wonderful moment in our lives and our family's lives. I had tried a few times to find the right one, but stumbled upon a "naughty" librarian who just melts your heart and then makes you roll your eyes with his incredibly bad jokes. We are now in the middle of an open adoption process which may have a wait of about 1 year ahead of us. We both found when first dating, that we had each kept baby name lists since we were both 13. It was truly kismet with us. Hopefully, we will be great parents to a beautiful child God has destined for us soon. Our family philosophy is "welcome all comers" but come with respect of yourself and others. My husband brings a massive Jewish family, I bring a small post-Catholic one, and together we have gathered a incredible number of friends to round out a family built together by us. Family is really who you make it.
Well that is enough about me for now... hope you all follow my example and post something about yourself here to get this forum going!
Welcome to the new people too!
