News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Theatre, musicals, plays, opera, stand-up comedy and other "live" performances

Let's chat about "live performances"!

Have you seen or are you performing in a great play, musical, magic act? Or maybe you want to share your memory of watching Siegfried & Roy (BEFORE the accident, hopefully)!? Well, I'd like to hear about it... and I'm sure others would too.

I'm excited to see XANADU the musical next month! It's now on Broadway (NYC) for anyone interested.

I only wish to GODDESS that Olivia was able to appear in her skates again! (...sigh!)

Also just heard about this (NYC) play. Very curious...

"What if falling in love with the wrong person was the best thing you ever did?

Jane and Danny, two drifting New Yorkers, identify themselves as gay…until their friendship catches their hearts off guard. A political protest against the ban on same-sex marriage ignites an unlikely and heartbreaking romance in An Octopus Love Story."

AND... I have to say that I'm VEEEERY excited and somewhat disgusted that SPIDERMAN will be coming to Broadway! SPIDERMAN THE MUSICAL! Yes, it's TRUE! I'm NOT kidding!! And U2 is doing the music?!! OMG!?? Have I died and gone to ...XANADU already??

I just saw Edward Scissorhands (the Ballet). It was amazing, I nearly cried.

Edward Scissorhands

I've heard about this show. The movie was totally amazing... but can't imagine it "live"??!

Was the story changed? I think I heard something about it being a little different in some way or another.

Gay-themed Play in FringeNYC

If you're in the NYC area this week, please come see ANOTHER DAY ON WILLOW ST, a play by Frank Anthony Polito, as part of the New York International Fringe Festival.

NYTheatre.com calls the play, "largely terrific" and dubs it "a very worthy evening of theatre [that] deserves attention."

Set in Brooklyn Heights at the Dawn of the New Millennium, ANOTHER DAY ON WILLOW ST tells the parallel story of two couples--one gay, one straight--struggling to learn the meaning of love, sacrifice, and living for today...before it's too late.

The play features Polito and real-life partner, Craig Bentley, as "Paul" and "Mark."

The Players Theatre, 115 MacDougal Street (btw W. 3rd and Bleeker)

Wed 8/22 @ 3pm, Thurs 8/24 @ 10:45 pm and Sat 8/25 @ 4:30pm
