Do you know which year of the series

they're planning on showing in the US? I know there are three different casts, but haven't yet had time to track down that info.

Well, it's a soap opera

Well, it's a soap opera that's been running 5 nights a week (although I think it might have started 3 nights a week) for 11 years, so who knows where they'll start. I think the show's got significantly better in the last 18 months or so (and the gay storyline that's been running for 7 or 8 months has been excellent) and I think that coincided with a change of producer and an influx of new characters, so hopefully they'll choose then to begin with.

I find it interesting that it'll be shown 10pm on weeknights, when over here it's a teatime (6:30) show though.

Just to add, the Hollyoaks

Just to add, the Hollyoaks Wikipedia article says this about BBC America -

Episodes will start at the time of the Sam Owen's return which aired in the UK during Summer 2006

There's no reference in the article, so I don't know where the info has come from, but I'd say that was a fair starting point. It would also mean, for those who are interested in the current gay storyline, that you'd see the whole thing as John Paul joined in September 2006.

Thanks, jakob!

I've also heard that the BBC America run will pick up soon after the big explosion that revamped the cast, is that the same time as Sam Owen's return?

yeah, that was the end of

yeah, that was the end of the Sam Owen storyline (he caused the fire which burned down the pub and killed himself and 4 other characters).

BBCA

Is BBCA one of the American channels that Canadians can't pick up, no matter how much you're willing to pay (like Showtime)?  I have been following the Craig/John-Paul storyline since my trip to England earlier this year and have been keeping up on YouTube, but I would love to be able to watch the actual episodes.

Hollyoaks on BBC America

Last night I saw that Hollyoaks premieres on BBC America on June 4. There is a background show airing on June 3. At least that is what my Comcast DVR tells me.

DVR is set

I've been watching this show since I first heard about it here at AE.  I was lucky to catch on right when they started showing it, so I got the background show and started right away on new episodes.

I'm really enjoying the plot lines and charachters, though I was sad to see the explosion happen and kill a few people that i liked.  I'm thinking about finding the DVD's of it (if they're available) to watch seasons past.

You think it's worth it, or should I just stay where I am?  I'd really like to watch the Max/O.B./Max's Wife (I think her name is Clare but I can't remember) storyline happen; that seems like it'd be really interesting.

For Sam: a teaser

Hi

Just watched the latest episode involving Max, and his wife Claires, storyline.... what a doozie!!!

I dont normally watch this programme as in England its aimed squarely at the 12-21 market, but i started watching the whole gay themed storyline and got hooked.

Our episodes are shown at 6.30pm for the returning school kids but i saw in one episode more than is shown in an episode of your "adult-themed" six feet under.

Speak to you soon.

I'm addicted...

Just wanted to say how i've become addicted to Hollyoaks on BBC America. I'm so pleased it's arrived on these shores.

I was born in England and lived there into my late twenties until I came to America, and I can tell you that so many of the characters, epsecially the ones in school ring true. I rememeber one of my best mates in school was pregnant at 15 years old with twins. Then there was the slag (easy girl) who slept with many of the boys from the all male school across the park. There was the bully and her possy. I went to an all girls school and remember many of use shortened our skirts and loosened our ties and shirts like the Hollyoaks school girls. And the drinking...me and my best mate started the drinking in our early years and was hitting the pubs by sixteen. Watching Hollyoaks brings back so many great memories.

And i've been following the JP/Craig storyline on Youtube, and it's phenominal. Apparently it has a massive fan following which has reached critical mass. It's mostly what the fans and the media which follow soaps are talking about.

From what i've read and seen of this love story between JP/Craig, it starts slow and builds over eight months. The two guys that play the part are fantastic in their roles, especially James Sutten who plays JP. From some of the clips i've seen the emotion he brings to his role will pull at your heart, big time. Some incredible acting. I can't wait for this storyline to kick in over here. Apparently we're about 8 months behind England, but I think the JP/Craig storyline will get underway soon since it's still on going in England almost nine months later.

And to any fellow brits on this site, my condolences with the latest terrorist bombs. It's breaking my heart to see what's happening in England, my homeland which I still dearly miss.

OMG, did anyone see

OMG, did anyone see tonight's E4 episode??!?! Sarah walks in on Craig and John Paul! And it was proper hot and heavy stuff as well...Craig on top of John Paul, shirts flying everywhere, hands flapping about everywhere, then Craig topless (though unfortunately John Paul was wearing a vest, damn those Channel 4 rules!), neck kissing!!!! OMG, I really think the UK has surpassed themselves with how much gay stuff is being shown pre-watershed! I really think Michael needs to post the clip on the blog!

I'm off to see it again on E4+1! Can't wait for it to be on Youtube...:D I am soooo happy!

Still gutted...

Jason...I know you're a huge fan of the JP/Craig storyline on HollyOaks like myself, and I can tell you i'm still not over the ending of this great love story.

I just returned from England yesterday, so I was very fortunate to see the last two weeks of the JP/Craig love story unfold on TV instead of having to follow it on Youtube...and what an ending it was. The whole reveal and declaration of love had me glued to the TV screen. Then came the devastating airport breakup, followed the next day by JP's emotional breakdown to his mum, which had me in tears for two days...and i'm still thinking about it.

I've never had such an emotional reaction to any movie or series before. I've tried to understand why I became so caught up in this particular storyline for the past year since i've seen many movies and series with similar themes, but this one just feels so unique to me . Immense credit must be given to both James Sutton and Guy Burnett for putting in such phenominal performances. Just some brilliant acting by both these guys, and their on screen chemistry was quite amazing. James Sutton just blows you away with those gut renching crying scenes. He makes it all seem so real.

Here's hoping that Guy Burnett returns in April when James Sutton's contract is up and we get the ending so many of us crazed fans are praying for. There is some hope since James has said he would love for Guy to return to complete the story with a happy ending. And Guy has also shown interest in wrapping things up on a positve note. Here's wishing this becomes a reality next year.
