Members rarely comment on any article or post.  There are thousands of members on this site but only a handful comment on a regular basis.  I think that translates into the private messages area too.

It's rude when people don't respond to a private message or comment.  You are better off knowing they are rude upfront than down the road.

Another thing that could be the reason why they haven't responded is that they are unaware they have an inbox on this site.  I didn't realize that I had one until about eight weeks after I joined.  Luckily no one sent me a message within that time period.

I think you're a nice guy.  You shouldn't be worried about others, you aren't the one with the problem.

...for a few weeks (just recently got fixed), so it may be that some people didn't get messages sent to them.

I've just enjoyed the banter of folks on this site and thought it would be fun to get to know them better and so a couple I have messaged. And maybe you're right Evan. Maybe they aren't aware they have in inbox or like Dave mentioned maybe there are still some kinks in the system. Er I mean not kinky, but rather..ok you get the idea. ;)

I think the problem with the spam messaging caused some folks not to get their messages. I also think the blog feature is relatively new and as we grow more and more people will become aware of that feature and use it!

In another post, I wrote that it would be useful to have the option to remain permanently logged in, i.e. you're logged in as soon as you visit this site, without having to type in your user name and password each time you visit.

So if people forego signing in and are just in "read mode", they won't know they have messages in their in-box.

I do have a complaint about the PMing system though. The messages I send don't indent or separate for paragraphs, it just lumps everything together, creating an ugly if readable block of text.

..kinda not MySpace-y. So people don't bother updating it or posting pictures or whatnot. Personally, I visit AfterElton for the articles just to read them and then commenting on a fwe, and private messagine people isn't in my priorities. Haha.

Don't get me wrong, but when someone messages me, I take time to read em and reply. :)
