I was just trying to get the latest on this film that I'm rather anticipating[John Boorman's Memoirs Of Hadrian] when I came across this ridiculous thing. It seems homophobes are delusional than I thought. Click on the link to read what he says about the Hollywood gay mafia out to get him

Thank You Benlayvey
for this link, I forced myself to read the entire ignorant diatribe from this homophobe. I wish people like this could meet the following people:
1. Father or Mother of a child who has committed or attempted suicide because he/she could not handle the social stigma of being gay/lesbian, stigma that is nurtured by homophobes like the person in this link;
2. Father or Mother of a child who has been gay bashed by violent homophobes who have been taught by society that gays/lesbians are not worthy of the same respect and love as their straight counterparts.
3. The children and spouses of a closted gay or bisexual parent who was tortured by low self-esteem, substance abuse and self-hatred and whose behaviour as a parent/spouse negatively impacted on other family members. I have known families like this and it is not a pretty sight!
Finally in closing I found it particularly offensive that this homophobe quoted one of my favourite books, "The Lord of The Rings" at the close of his comment. His narrow-minded, hateful and bigoted view of the world is about as far away from goodness as I can possibly imagine.
Thanks again for the link.

Hadrian and Alexander Were Great
Good Point
but the other comments he made set me off!

He's not a homophobe - let's control our indignation
I don't think this guy is much of a homophobe, if he's one at all. He just thinks he's being hip and flippant by throwing around some naughty politically incorrect terms. His posting has a little smiley face that lets us know this is meant as a joke. OK, so it wasn't funny. Bear in mind that he liked the Yourcenar novel, and thinks she was brave for publishing it in 1951 during the McCarthy era. (Of course the fact that she was French, not American, and thus not likely to have been affected by the witchhunts, seems to have escaped him.) Browsing other posts on that site I find that he also likes such works as Brideshead Revisited and On the Road. And here's what he has to say about Brokeback Mountain: "Friday is the first anniversary of the day on which I first saw Brokeback Mountain, a film that helped to renew my faith in the possibilities of art..." Um, how vile and homophobic is that?
I Think We Should Agree
to disagree. He made it pretty clear that he does not want Hollywood producing movies that show gays in a positive light. Secondly acknowledging that Brokeback Mountain was great art does not prove he is not homphobic. After all the movie had a sad ending for the gay characters, perhaps this confirmed for him what he thinks happens to gays (or should happen to gays) in real life.
