I so wish in the season premire tonight they hadn't gone down the whole "Kevin we have to break up because I'm going to 'Malifmynewseriesdoesntmakeitillbebackasia' " Because, it does one of two things...it stops Kevin from being able to meet a new great character OR it makes Kevin into a cheat because he won't be able to wait for Jason's return and will see other people.
Frustrating.

I so wish I had thought of ...
I don't necessarily even want them together...
It's funny how much more knowledgeable
so many folks are about the business of Hollywood and how that can ruin things. You're right that since we all know Eric is on another show that we didn't invest nearly as much in his character. Frankly, that might also explain why I haven't been so keen on the pairing.
But I would like to see the situation resolved one way or the another so something could happen relationship wise for Kevin. Of course, since this is basically a night time soap opera, something else bad will immediately have to happen thereby derailing the whole thing again. Just look at Sarah and Joe.
Scotty! Scotty! Scotty!
While Jason McAllister is certainly easy to look at
I honestly would prefer Scotty (or similar charachter) to return to Kevin's life. I think a down-to-earth guy who's had to work for everything he has (assuming the Walker's have always been rather well off as portrayed) could be a good balance for Kevin; sort of break him out of his world a little to see a bigger picture.
I'd have to say I'm with Michael though, regarding Jason's vocation. Jason's pastoral work sort of throws me off the charachter a little. Although, that's probably a personal reaction more so than how the charachter is played.
Yeah. I'm so not a fan of Jason
Yeah, I was kind of turned off...
by the whole religion thing, too. The clincher for me was when Kevin got down on his knees to pray at the end. People that use prayer as a last ditch resort have never been high in my books. It seems so hypocritical. So on top of him being whiny, self centered and reactionary, now they are portraying him as hypocritical. I sure hope the writers bring him back from the fringe of dis-likability.
Eric is a very good looking guy and is believable as Rob's brother. But I thought his character is very flat and not terribly interesting. (but that could be a personal bias) I also think how they got together was so contrived as to not be believable. I agree that having Scotty as the boyfriend coming from a very different financial background makes for a more interesting dynamic. And Luke plays him with that cheeky edge that is fun to watch.
If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.
Funn,y but I thought I was opening
myself up for some criticism when I said that. Obviously, I would never rule out being friends or knowing someone because they are religious, but it is a bit of a disconnect for me. Unless they are a very low-key, accepting sort. I just don't know how much in common I'd have with someone who doesn't believe in evolution! LOL.
No one has said much about they thought of the episode overall. Are folks glad to have it back or is everyone just a fan of Kevin's storyline and doesn't pay attention to much else? I felt pretty bad for Sarah when Joe pulled the rug out of her. And even when the storylines get a little melodramatic, Sally Field always pulls off her scenes.
So who thought what?
I was gonna wait for the recap thread to be posted, but...
Sarah/Joe
I felt terrible for Sarah when Joe made it known that he wants a divorce. She's afraid that she's lost her brother, and now her husband has just told her that he wants to end the marriage for good. That must be terribly shattering for her.
As a side note: My DVR only recorded the last 30 minutes of the episode for some strange reason, so when I began watching, I had missed the first half of the show. I plan on catching up on the first half later today.
We've kinda known what was
We've kinda known what was to come about with Kevin's storyline since May. There were only 2 avenues, and they chose the one that we were most afraid of...the eunuch stage. Although I'm all for commitment and obligations, but I can smell the storyline coming a mile away, and it's going to make whoever comes between Kevin & Jason the bad guy. Thankfully, Scotty will **only** be a friend to Kevin this season and nothing more. So, I'm sure there will be a love interest #4 in the works.
My only qualm with Jason is that he's a Methodist and not an Episcopalian minister. I'm surprised Jason hasn't been de-robed because of his "open" relationship with Kevin.
That said, Michael, I do watch for the other story plots involved. Although McKitty's storylines are getting really boring for me, their individual stories (when not paired up) are more interesting to me on the whole. The Sarah/Joe situation is really interesting and I was so right knowing that John Pyper will be demoted down to a guest star for season 2. It's sad, and this relationship between Sarah & Joe will get even sadder when they start going into custody battle over Paige & Cooper. Yes, it does get nasty. I can't wait for Justin to return, a little bit handicapped. I can't wait to see the family reaction. And Rebecca's friend has yet to make her appearance yet. Oh, and we still haven't seen the true colors of Rebecca yet. The writers have been placing that storyline on hold for the time being.
