News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

AfterElton.com Forum Rules: READ ME

*Do not start threads about illegal downloading. Do not start threads requesting for sites for illegal downloading. Links to fan sites and tribute videos are fine. YouTube clips are acceptable, links to illegally copied clips (or worse, entire movies) are not. Also, please do not post scans of copyrighted materials (magazines, etc.).

*This is a bi-friendly site. No bi-bashing allowed. Period.

*Before starting a new thread please look to see if there’s already an existing thread about the topic. Nobody wants 10 threads about Torchwood or 20 threads about where to hang out in NYC.

*When you do start a new topic please be specific in the title, i.e., the name of the article/movie/book/person, not something vague like “You’ve gotta check this out!”

*No spamming. Spam posts will be deleted by administrators.

*No trolling. Thought provoking, yes. Trolling, no. Trolling is defined as "a troll is a person who enters an established community such as an online discussion forum and intentionally tries to cause disruption, often in the form of posting messages that are inflammatory, insulting, incorrect, inaccurate, absurd, or off-topic, with the intent of provoking a reaction from others." To disagree with another comment is, of course, acceptable, and to play devil's advocate to bring up the other side's point of view, etc., is acceptable.

*No flaming allowed. Debate all you like, we like differences in opinions, but please, no personal attacks. If there’s something offensive that you believe the moderators missed please feel free to send any one of them a private message to have the matter taken care of.

*The community forums are an evolving work-in-progress, and we'd love your feedback and input (yes, even if it's complaints!). Please feel free to start discussions in the Feedback forum on the Forum Announcements page.

Have Fun!

Kind of out of the blue.

What prompted this sudden laying down of the rules?Wasn't there already something in the forums section that explained them?

We actually didn't...

Posting guidelines weren't provided in this detail, and we wanted to be sure that they were available so that everyone was on the same page. Nothing specific prompted the rules being posted.

Rules NOT made to be broken...

Being new to this site, I should probably have read any pre-existing rules and etiquette regarding the forums. However having not done so, a periodic reminder is never a bad thing......

I suspect that the prompt was most likely a rash of abuses in one form or another.

and basic human courtesy.  Simple enough for anyone to follow.

Feedback Forum?

"If there’s something offensive that you believe the moderators missed please feel free to send any one of them a private message to have the matter taken care of."

How do we find out who the moderators are so we can contact them? I must have missed that.

When I go to the Forum Announcements page:

I don't find the Feedback forum has it been deleted? If not could you provide a link?
